Time to start a thread about my Dad's project from the past couple of years. It all started with a relatively clean 65 Belvedere he picked up a few years ago, a 392 Hemi he had sitting in the garage, a sawzall, and a welder.

The car was pretty solid, a 318 auto. It needed typical rust repair, but a nice foundation for a hot rod project.

It's not the way the factory cars were done, more a representation of how a privateer may have done it back in the day.

Axle is from an A-100, narrowed 2 inches in the middle. Springs were custom made for the car.

Engine back in for good. All the lettering was hand painted by a local sign painter.

As of today, the car is almost finished. Just a little wiring to finish and some brake lines to bend.

The car made it's public debut at a local car show this past weekend.

The car got lots of attention, and Dad had a great time telling the story to everyone who walked up.

It's "just" a 392, but it should hold it's own just fine.

Nice...

The scenery, too...

We got a few of those in these parts...

Might ought to bring it over this away for the Woodward cruise sometime...

Wow, that's a really interesting way of making a gasser. Just throw a bunch of leaf springs under the front. The car looks awesome!

I'm sure it'll see the track at some point in time. The motor is actually relatively mild, we don't really have any ET expectations at this point. It's basically a 392 with a blower cam, 8.5:1 compression, and 6-71. It's underdriven a litle bit right now to be pump gas friendly.

Now that's a pretty cool build of an old looking nostalgia a/fx racer!
