It was a totally stock 383 with lots of miles. Put the timing light on it and the timing mark was jumping all over the place at rpm. A new timing gear set took care of that issue. Also, as chains stretch and gears wear it will retard the timing which is why some cam manufactures add in +4. Jerry Williams.
