Do I need to cut the exposed part of the windshield and back glass gaskets to better access the trim clips? I have the cheap triangle pointed-head tool but can't seem to feel the clips trying to slip it underneath the gasket. Maybe not going far enough under? The original gaskets are pretty hard. When you do feel the clip are you pushing the bottom of the clip up or pulling the top down? This is for 69 Barracuda fastback. Not worried about the windshield but I sure do need to be careful and not crack the back glass. Any tips would really help. Thanks for any and all advice.

Google it. I haven't checked but there are probably videos to watch.

There is a little tiny lip on the bottom of the trim, the retainer clips latch onto that. The tool neeeds to slide in between the body and the lip, it will push the lip out away from the trim, lift up the trim with your other hand and maybe use a thin screwdriver to slide in between the trim and the gasket to lift the trim up, do one clip at a time and make sure all of them (retaining clips) are disconnected from the bottom of the trim pieces. There is three or four pieces of trim, if I'm remebering correctly IHTH

Same style clip but rubber gasket instead of glue in glass.
OP. Be carefull and slow. You don't want to bend up that trim either. Pretty hard to find and $$$.
Use a thin piece of card board between tool and rear glass.
It takes abit of practice and patience to get the hang of it.

And I've found that teh amount of corrosion, goo and debris in there makes each clip require a slithgly different technique before it finally releases.

I took these pictures a couple years ago to help folks know what there trying to do. This is a challenger, though.

A slighty modified "slim jim" lockout tool. Remember them?

I went to a junk yard and practiced.
the first try or two was ugly but once you figure out how to do it they just pop right off.

I paid a local glass company guy $50.00 to come out and remove the trim, front and rear, from my Duster for painting last winter, he was suppose to come back and reinstalled it after the paint job, he didn't I ended up installing it myself Not hard either

I pulled all the trim of my 69 with a trim tool - end was shaped like Challenger1's tool

Be careful with the back window it is quite a bit smaller than the body opening and will drop down when the gasket is pulled.

Success! Thanks for the help and the great photos. I did find it helpful to cut away parts of the exposed gasket in sections to get started. Gasket is not hidden under trim like on e body. I first went in at too shallow an angle and was mistakenly trying to pry the top part of the clip that is inside the trim. Then saw the great picture. Went in at steeper angle (this is where cutting back the edge of the gasket helped as mine was pretty stiff)and then could catch the part of the clip showed in the pic. Some places I thought were still clipped even after I released them, but were just really stuck from the old sealant. Thanks again.
