Are the Percy's Seal-4-Good (dead-soft aluminum) head gaskets still a good choice?

I have a ticking noise on my headers which is pointing towards my header gaskets. My TTi gaskets appear to have made it for about 4 years or so and I need to replace them.
I did an internet search and the Percy's and the Cometic's seem to be the two top choices. My local parts store can get the Percy's, so I am leaning towards them for my 340.

Thanks

I used them on my 383 mag & no problems or leaks after the install.
That was 6 mos ago & only had to re torque them a couple of times.
Very pleased with how easy they go on.

Do they have a suggested torque spec for correct install?

Thank you for your reply.

i use the fel-pro graphite/steel gaskets. they hold up much better than the tti's. in fact i've never needed to change them.

I just tightened them by feel since they 'crush' to seal.

Have you considered Remflex's? I have had a set on my SB stroker for 4 years and I have had good luck with them.

I used them on my 440 with TTIs.They lasted about a week before they leaked. The cheap white ones that came with the TTIs lasted about 4 years. Now I use Mr Gasket Ultra seal.Mine have been on 4 years now.No leaks.Had them on the kids sb truck.I even took the headers off and reused them and they still sealed. The other kid has them on his 413 with headers. They are at least 10 years old.Reused them once and they are still sealed.Rocky

Remflex was also one of my considerations. It is hard to find something bad on the net when it comes to Percy's, Cometic, or Remflex header gaskets.
My local store was able to get the Percy's out of the three mentioned brands.

Thanks for the reply.

I've run Percy's on my 360 with Summit headers for 3-4 years now with no problems, just snug them up once in a while n they're great. I also run their collector gaskets and un-cork n re-cork my headers at least 3 times a year. They still seal after 5+ Years.

NAPA has a header gasket made by Victor-Heinz. Its made of graphite like the Remflex but I believe a lot cheaper. About 24.00 for a set of SB ones. I have a set on my 340 in my 81 shorty that have been there for over 10 years now. I have used almost all the different brands out the in 40+ years and the NAPA vh ONES ARE THE ABSOLUTE BEST i HAVE FOUND..

I am truckless..

I added the Percy's header gaskets and no more ticking. I will re-torque them in a few days just to make sure.
One thing that I noticed was when I pulled the TTI gaskets and over-layed the Percy's, the exhaust openings are not the same. The TTi's restricted my outer exhaust tubes slightly on the outer corners. You can see in the picture how dark the TTi's are in the corner. This dark area was restricting the exhaust flow. Probably not enough to hurt but the Percy's are wide open with no restrictions.
