I'm looking for one of these to put onto my 383 N-96 hooded car...I'm just wondering how rare or how hard to find is this aluminum intake or where I might start looking.

No more than 70$...thanks for the advice.I've been reading that they are still a good intake and with my air grabber hood I'm limited by height...this site has helped a new guy like myself big-time!

I sold one for $100 just last year at a local swap meet....I thought I priced it to cheap as it sold 5 minutes after putting it out?

I figured they were a bit hard to find so 100$ wouldn't have been to nuts...the hunt is on

Ebay !!!

They pop up every once in awhile - But look for stripped threads or heli coils on the carb mounting threads , to find a mint one might bee a stretch and then of course cost

I guess i dont understand everyones dedication with these intakes when they only put out at best , maybe and i mean maybe a few more hp then the newer Edelbrock Performer Intake

Of course the Performer RPM is a different animal but hood clearance always comes into play

If you already have a stock late 60's-early'70's 4bbl. intake, the

DP4B will not make your car faster. I've been there done that 30yrs

ago.

you might look at an weiand action plus intake. its old skool like the dp4b but a little more performance same hieght as a stocker/dp4b from the looks of it.

i run one on my stock 78 440 with a 600 carb, kinda going opposite of you though,i am looking to poke one thru the hood.

another option might be a old skool holley street/strip dominator, they are a low rise single plane, spredbore intake that works rather well on the street for a single plane intake,IMO.

Actually it's Dodge Plymouth 4 Barrel (for 383-400) and CH4B is Chrysler 4 barrel (for 413-440).

Not bad at all by test results:

Yep! I use the Holley on the 383 I just built for my ride.

This intake won't fit under his N96 hood without cobbling up an expensive air cleaner, so even though its a better intake it's not fitting his criteria. One advantage the DP4B has over the stock iron itake , it's 20lbs lighter.

I'm looking for a DP4B for my 70 D100, I want it instead of the Performer or SD (which I have) strictly because I want the truck to look as it would have in 1970. I agree on the $75-$100, I'm waiting for one at a swap meet so I don't have to pay the shipping/border fees.

I used on on my 69 Runner back in the day that was other wise completely stock and it made pretty noticeable difference in ET and MPH.

I heard the DP4B is taller than a stock 4bbl intake - is this correct? Anyone have the heights of the various intakes being discussed above?

If it's taller it in not by much as I used it on a 383 in my 1969
Superbee with N96 hood and a factory air cleaner assembly that was not modified in anyway, no problems.

I agree the DP4B is better than stock, more so than the Performer.

A few of my reasons to go to this manifold is yes,it's aluminum and much lighter than the cast iron stock manifold.Further it accepts a square bore carb if I'm not mistaken and this will allow me to run a Holley 750 DP carb.It probably has a bit better performance than the stock manifold.Lastly it will fit with my N-96 Air Grabber hood...if I'm wrong someone please tell me.If there's a better manifold that will fit my car I'll go with that but from what I've been able to determine the Dp4b intake will cut weight and improve performance...it's a start

You've got it all right. I agree with all the reasons you stated.
