Hey all..Got a stupid question problaby. First off the problem started when I decided to put indy heads and quick time pros on the car. Broke the last two yokes, I think cause they were the greasable u-joints. Well I decided to convert everything to 1350 u joints. Got the new shaft took it out for a drive didnt feel right, felt like trans, cause I could feel it through the shifter. So me and buddy started tearing into it, he looks at me goes oh no...Yep crack right in the tailhousing. Get it out of the car...YEP! bent output shaft. So now im the lookout for another 23 spline and hope it dont break again. So I guess im asking for suggestions on what to do, not sure here. Not really wanting to spend the dough for a aftermarket trans right now...lol Anyways thanks alot.

Bumer, that happened to a car I had back in the 70's. You may need to put a limiter on the passenger side of the engine that will tie the engine to the K-frame. This limiter goes from the front of the K-frame to the side of the block near the motor mount or pan rail and prevents the engine from twisting sideways/clockwise if you were looking at it from above. We kept having issues with trans mounts breaking and this fixed our problem. We had solid Sox Martin style mounts and it still twisted without the limiter on there.

Uh, the limiter should go on the drivers side. Which is the left side of the car.

it broke because of the bent output , change the output and tail housing and check your driveshaft and pinion angle .

Alright cool..and the last time this broke...I didnt realize it till it broke and took it apart, but the yoke was longer then the previous yoke that was in there so, maybe length had something to do with it, I was in hurry to go to the track and its all I had lol.

I wouldn't be suprised that the tail shaft and main case is cast steel, not cast grey iron If so you can have it welded You need to make sure that the drivshaft doesn't bottom out, slide the trans yoke in all the way and then slide it out 1 to 1 1/2 inches, that should be the center of U joint to center of U joint length needed to avoid future problems, make sure the car is sitting with the suspension loaded, not hanging down off of jackkstands under the sub frames
