471b1dart OP member 4 Joined: Mar 2009 Posts: 142 Fredericton NB Canada	was at a local car show and after setting there for about 2 hrs in the heat my car started pushing gas out the vent tube , just put on a new gas cap cause the old one was leaking when pulling away from stop ligts etc, it was a none vented cap , new one is none vented , should I be using a vented cap???

GO_Fish master Joined: Jul 2003 Posts: 6,167 Maryland	If the old cap was leaking, it was essentially vented (even if it was designed as non-vented when it was new). I mistakenly put a non-vented locking cap on my 68 Barracuda and it would draw a vacuum in the tank and gradually shut off gas after about 30 minutes of driving. RodStRace I Live Here Joined: Sep 2005 Posts: 12,481 Chino Valley	EVAP started in '70, so it could go either way with the car and parts. BTW, the 70s had a line up to the breather, the vapors were stored in the crankcase, not a charcoal cannister!

So I'm going to buy both since they don't cost that much and see how they work. I have a problem of smelling gas after a new tank install and I believe my old cap is the culprit.
