Needed another daily grinder since my Phord Escort's auto transmission hemoraged all its fluid onto the roadway. Needed something that was cheap to buy, cheap to fix, cheap on insurance, cheap on gas,and sustain the rigors of daily commuting and the odd pizza delivery punishment. I scored this gem for 700 bux. Always garaged, never winter driven, still wearing its factory paint, original rear tires, and the late-original owners' umbrella is still on the rear package shelf. I took a gamble since it was not running and towed her home. Reading a mere 90,000 Kilometers on the clock, she is pretty solid. With the help of my co-workers at my shop,we spent a day fixing the 2.2l and got her running . Typically,in our geographical area, these cars rotted away and now are few and far in between. Heck, there NONE in the local yards. Funny how I remember when every other car was either a Phord Tempo or some kind of K car variant.I remember working at a shop 23 years ago when we had "K car days" where the lube bay had nothing but K's coming in,LOL!!

Did I menton she's a real gem? Interior is minty clean and was very posh in its day.. Velvet red cloth, super comfy buckets, floor shift console, premium sound system with cassette (did my mullet grow back??)Light group ppackage, delay wipers, the famous digital voice warning system, and not one crack in the dash.

Plywood, stop signs, fiberglass and bondo are the norm for whats left of the K car's floors that are still on the road around here. However,I had never seen such a clean underbelly of any K car like this one.. For an Ontario car, this is unbelievable. Note where the silver is painted over the black..factory lines still wearing the galvanizing..Car still runs factory original exhaust--two resonators and a muffler--no cat convertor..

Rocker panels?? what rockers?? That's what muffler tape and furnace tin was used to patch 'em up. Not on my girl..she is solid original factory tin.Somee road rash, but no body work required. It's been a long long time where my screwdriver did NOT go through the rockers on a K car.. Oh,yes the jack points are still solid as well. Typically they are the first to rot away making every K owner throw a two ton trolley jack in the trunk.

The Dodge 400 was only sold for two model years,1982 and 1983 Nicknamed the "Super K" is was on a stretched wheelbase of the K car. Although they sold very well, not many survive today. Not a rare or valuable car,but still shares an interesting chapter in the history of Chrysler. Without the K car and its variants, the mini van would not have been invented--and Chrysler may not be with us today. The car that saved Chrysler gets little respect nowadays..so I will enjoy pounding the crap out of this one.!! Nothing special about my 400--just a good clean solid example of a once popular car.. HHmm...the cassette still plays my 30 year old Dokken tape,at least nowadays I can grow a SKULLET!!!

Thanks! For inspection,All she needs is a pair of tires, repair a hole in the exhaust, replace the rusted front rotors, and replace the bagged out rear springs. She will be on the road in a short time. The economics behind this car just make sense with gas as high as it is nowadays.. Plus I still get to drive a Mopar!

Watch out if you take care of this car you will be driving it a long time. Long story short a buddy sold one that looked like it belonged in a scrap yard but the new owner got more than ten years out of the car.

Thanks guys! Yep..she is paid for and hoping to get the most out of her,for sure. I put in a new set of Cargo Coils in the back today, replaced the rotten front rotors, and repalced the rotten rear tires. She is good to go and will be registered for the road this week.

Breaking the chains bitches........ Now you know that thing needs either a turbo(srt4 ) swap or converted to RWD with a small block. Don't kill it. Hell convert it to rwd with some big meats and put an srt motor in it.Would'ntmatter what trans was in it.

Wel,I have the EFI conversion in the backk of my mind should t he 2bbl Holley decide to have fits--if it ever happens. A 2.5 Turbo swap is a good idea and make it a sleeper for sure,LOL in the meantime i will enjoy it as an orignal car. I do not intend to destroy this car at all. Just drive it.

Those Holley's don't like ethanol. At least my '81 didn't. The dealer finally found a bulletin that said lots of vapor lock! I had plenty of that!
Wasn't good for the carb either.
