I am trying to install hoop scoops on a 1971 Duster. I am having difficulty finding instructions on how to exactly install hood scoops for this car. Does anyone know how or can direct me to a website which will explain to me ?

I just did this on a demon and I used the cut outs in the underside of the hood for a guide. Drilled in the center of the cut outs one at a time and kept setting the scoop on the hood to make sure we were drilling in the right place.

As far as I know Dusters never had functional scoops like the Darts did, but 71 & newer hoods should have cut-outs in the underhood webbing see pic below. The red circled holes should already be there. You'll have to drill/cut the rest as well as the big holes if you want function, good luck

This is how I did my '70 Duster...many moons ago.

A little trivia for you. Did you know that no original 1970 & 1971 340 Dusters came from the factory with hood scoops? They were optional on 340 Darts did, 340 Demons, and Duster Twisters (Slant 6 and 318 engines only) but no 340 equipped 70-71 Dusters.

I did exactly that on my 70 Dart...Slant 6. The only difference on my installation was the location of the 3 1/2" holes for the forced induction. I moved the holes to the rear of the scoop because I had the notion that air trapped at the rear of the scoop was a bad idea when driving at higher speeds. I had installed HVAC adapters to the hood and slinky aluminum tubing to deliver the cold air to the air cleaner. Also made an opening at the lowest of the slinky pipe with a drain hose leading to the subframe. When you drive in the rain the water accumulates in the slinky pipe and gets redirected under the car...You don't wanna suck water into your air cleaner.
