So I've got 15 x 7 steel wheels all painted up and ready to go for my car. Now the tire choice comes down to two different sets of sizes.

I was all ready to go with 215/70R15 in the front and 255/60R15 in the rear these are just under 27" tall in the front and just over in the rear. Now I've been told that I can go with a 275/60R15 in the rear and step up to a 225/70R15 in the front. Question is the 275 to wide for a 7" rim and will it cause any problems rubbing and such on the car. I would really like the wider tire, but don't want any issues.

I had 275/60 15 on a 7" rim on a 68 Coronet and there was no issue with rubbing. However I thought the sidewalls looked bulged out. I now have 275/60 15s on my 70 road runner but these are on 8" rims. No fitment problems and the sidewall looks better IMO.

That is one of my concerns, they all seem to recommend a 8" wide rim for the 275's. Don't really care of the donut look when the rim is too small for the tire.

7" wheel is too narrow for a 275.
