What fuel pump and filter are you guys running with alcohol. I'm switching over to alcohol and need some ideas as to what i need for electric pump, filter, fuel log and lean out valve and anything else you guys recommend? This is a carburated system.
Thanks for any and all info
Kevin

I'm sure most pumps that are alcohol compatable would work. I use to run a BG400 pump and a BG5000 filter. I liked the bypass built into the pump so I could run a dead-head regulator. Make sure your supply line is big enough. I used a #10 from the pump which is a bit overkill. I don't know why you would use a lean out valve for a carb. That seems to be associated with injection, which I run now. Maybe someone else might know of a use for a lean out valve for a carb? Again, whatever you decide on, make sure all your parts are acohol compatable! Good luck!

make sure you run a stainless filtering element only, no paper.
And yes you absolutely want to run a leanout valve, best way to build heat and save fuel. Drill and tap 3/8" NPT into carb spacer or intake under carb and plumb to slide valve on your dash. It's simply a controlled vacuum leak.
Mix 1/2qt of Klotz Uplon to 55gal drum of alky keeps things nice and clean.

What size pump and brand would you guys recommend for a motor in the 750-800hp range?Just curious what is a slide valve? I heard guys using a ball valve.
Thanks
Kevin

I know they used to have a pump just for alky.

What about a belt driven pump? Who makes the brackets to mount a belt driven pump?
Thanks
Kevin

I've got an Aeromotive 2000 on my wife's car, it's way over kill but it's one of the best and I won't have fuel pressure or volume issue pushing fuel to the front of the car. I have 2 #8 fuel lines coming from the fuel cell to a Y and out is #12 into a #12 fuel filter with stainless steel element. #10 line to the carb.

On my car I'm running a belt drive, Enderle with their brackets. It's been on the car for about 14 years and works flawlessly. Fuel cell is in the front of the car so it's not working hard at all.

I have a buddy that runs the BG mechanical pump and it sucks the alcohol from the rear fuel cell and it's works great too.

I'm also a Klotz fan with MegaDart, been using it for about 14 years. IMO, it's hands down better that most of the other top-end lubes you see most people use.

But I use a full quart per 55 gallon drum, maybe I'm running too much since he's only using 1/2 quart.

I guess my question is exactly the opposite of the above poster. Why would you run a leanout valve with injection? You can lean the engine by pulling the shutoff valve halfway shut. How can you add heat into the engine with a carb unless you have a leanout valve?

For your carb the BG400 or the Magnaflow equivalent will be just fine. I have used a BG400 for years. Its still on the car now even though it is way overkill to feed my surge tank in the front. As stated above though you want to run good size line. What you need to remember is that it takes roughly twice as much methanol as gas for the engine to run. So you need twice the fuel supply. Typical good setup for rear mounted cell -12an from tank to pump, -10 from pump to regulator, 2 -6 or -8's coming out of the regulator to the carb. You have to run over 20lbs of pressure from the rear to the front or you may have stumbles launching. Ask me how I know

Thanks for all the info, The magnafuel 500 looks like a decent Pump and which fuel filter would you recommend.
Thanks
Kevin
