What are you talking about? According to some people here, you can do a rotisserie resto on a car for $5-$10k!

...it adds up, don't it!

I wanted soooo bad to mention that...LMAO...When I hear these guys say they restored thier entire car for under 10 grand it just tickles me...My paint job was 9K and the bumpers ran 600 each to rechrome...Ok that is over 10K alone.....Paint and bumpers..

You're exactly right. My definition of restoration requires talent.
Most people's definition of restoration requires other people with the talent and lots of cash!

Im not putting down your so called talent but you cant replate your own bumpers nor can you machine a block properly yourself...There are many things that require outside assistance and cash..I could add up easily 10 grand just in NOS or reproduction parts..
Just for sake of arguement if someone paid three grand to rebuild a motor and three grand to paint a car and three grand for a fresh interior and just a few extras thats ten grand alone and impossible to do..

You're right I cant replate my own bumpers or machine a block. But I know how to do the majority of the work for everything else and I know how to shop. Hell I could easlily add up to 50 grand and more for NOS or reproduction parts, but just because they are NOS or reproduction doesn't mean I need to buy them from the greedy guy selling them. You can have an engine built for less than 3K, and paint for less than 3K, and a really nice interior for less than 3K.
Hell my engine for my Challenger is being fully rebuilt for less than $350 by an engine building legend (it helps to have lots of friends)
It does take a little longer but it can be done for 10K its not easy either but it can be done.

Anyway Nice job on the grille and you are right about having the nickle chrome job, it is completely worth it!

Is this same fellow donating all of the parts to your engine build? I'm doing a budget build on the 340 for my '69 Swinger and the KB pistons alone were $285.... Shoot, the Mancini order the other day was $865.00, the down payment to the machine shop today was $500 (will total $1,500)! I will be assembling the engine myself.
In fact, I do most of my own work, aside from body and paint, and there is no way possible to truly restore a car for less than $10k, no way, no how... Good paint and material is $2,500 and up! I guess it comes down to what one feels is the definition of "restored"...

That looks awesome! Money well spent.

I was looking at the cars today in a large parking lot where I get an afternoon coffee.

Not one chrome bumper while looking out over 200 cars.

Who did the rechrome work? Looks great!

I'm the CARETAKER of Weinstats '69 440 'cuda registry and have 104 of the 360 cars to date. 84 fastbacks/20 coupes. Always looking for new(REAL M-code) '69 440 'cudas to add to the registry so drop me a note if any are found or known. This isn't a publicly released registry. Thanks, Dave

B&L Plating on Groesbeck in Warren Michigan..A family owned and operated shop that is one of the few that will copper plate anymore..Enviro issues and all!! If the bumper has dents or needs to be straightened they send it out and it comes back beautiful..Those 72 RR front and back bumpers are huge and they cost me 600 each to have done...I am very pleased with how they both look..

Backside photo...Another company I highly recommend is QC Coatings for thier powdercoat work..They blast everything super clean then apply the color of your choice at great prices...They are in Shelby Twp Mich..Ask for Bill..
Also on ebaymotors is HOOVER AUTO PARTS for hard to find grill harware/fastener kits...
