Thanks Ron, PM me if you have any 71/72 parts left.

Here's the shrinking discs...a 5" and a 9". Trick is to Hammer/dolly metal, then heat up the high spots with the shrinking disc, and cool rapidly with mist of water and the heated metal is supposed to shrink back down to the level of the surrounding metal. So it's a slow process, but experts say with patience, there should be a need for very little filler. ...We'll see...

I plan to try one of the shrinking discs too. Check out this site. Lots of good tips and tricks. http://www.metalmeet.com/forum/index.php

The fellow on that site sold me my shrinking disc kit.

I thought I recognized the disc. My son 180ed his Dakota into a ditch and crumpled the PS bed corner. I plan to hone my skills on his truck. I'm very impressed with the skill level on that site. I've posted a few questions and they seem willing to help a newb out. Cool beans.

Got a chance to try my new toy...a stud welder...got the hang of sticking the studs on... practicing on a minor dent on the 1/4 panel. Works pretty good, but it'll take some more skill on the deeper dents. I like it, tho!

One of the best body tools I own. Play around on a junk fender and you will be amazed at how well they work.

I"ll get lots of practice right here on this car!LOL!
I figure the better I get, the less filler to straighten out the body...and I got lots of time to be patient!

So I thought I'd pull the steering column, since it would be easier to access the brake booster bolts under the dash....

And it was, booster came out easily, and pulled off the hood hinges to, and found a super-solid hinge mount area....these are usually rusted on these cars( at least my other cars were.)

And then, i figured I'd pull the glass to look at the window channels...they are awesome, also...just a speck of surface rust, nothing serious( all my other cars were rusted here, too!)

Does anyone know what the differences are between the standard dash frame and the rally dash frame? I have one of each, but don't want to swap VINs too badly, and I'd much rather have the rally dash in this car...

I'm pretty sure the frames are the same it's the rallye and standard clusters that differ. Nice work.

I like that idea, Scott...I'll try to find a used Big Block, (hopefully a stroker) that's a beast...don't worry about competition...don't think mine will get up to the same category as yours.

That would be nice if the frames are the same, especially re-using the original to the car as it has all the air cond crap.
Thanks for the kind words, I hope I can stik with it,as the project gets bigger daily!
