Doing a scuff and shoot paint job on the race car. I have block sanded the original paint with 80 grit. My plan is to spray epoxy primer, then complete filler work and finally spray 2K primer prior to paint.

Question is should I apply the epoxy over block sanded paint with 80 grit? I was thinking that block sanding the 2K would take care of any scrathes showing through the epoxy.

Bare metal would be okay. Older paint I'd sand to at least 180. Most primer is designed not to shrink and show sanding scratches, but 80 is coarse! If the undercoat is decent, consider it another chance to block for smoothness!

180 or 220,if you want it to look good,80 grit scratches may show in paint after a while.

easy way to fix that mess is 220 3m wet sand paper, then a little 320 wet sand then prime

MOPAR OR NO CAR

The p-sheets for the primers you're using will recommend a grit. And it won't be 80 grit. Go too coarse and it will show through into the paint, and you don't want that. I've seen that done and it looks like hell!
