I have a steel hood on the '69 Barracuda and a fiberglass hemi hood scoop. The scoop isn't high quality and doesn't even have usable mounting tabs to mount it. If you had a glass hemi scoop with no flange or tabs how would you mount it to a steel hood? Duct tape, pipe cleaners, superglue?

I imagine I need to glass in some kind of mounting tabs but didn't know what it would take to ensure it didn't come off at 100+ mph.

Well, to make this post short...don't bother doing it, you will be wasting your time and money. It won't last..it will crack and when the hood gets hot, you will see a ghost line where the fiberglass stops and the steel starts. I would advise you just to buy a good quality fiberglass hood.

I agree, mine was cracking all the way around, even before I painted it.

My auto body/paint suppler sells 3M and Fuzer make and they both will glue/bond the scoop to the hood...but these products are not compatible with body fillers , so you have to remove all excess glue/bonding material and prime the complete area with epoxy (2-coats) and let dry for 24 hours at 70 deg. , scuff with burgundy scuff pad and clean with cleaner and then apply a good light weight body filler. The main problem is that as soon as the hood gets heat from the engine or being in the sun or both , you will see ghost lines where the steel and the bonding edges are.

I don't need a seamless fit between the two pieces, just looking for a way to attach it so it doesn't blow off! I'll glass in some "tabs" to bolt it to the hood and I'll just trim it closely so it there is little gap between the two pieces.
