Anyone here know if there is a straight "pin" 1157 type bulb to use in the 6 volt dual filament type taillight sockets?
I have some NOS taillights for my Allstate but they use straight pin bulbs.

Thanks,
Mark

mark, from what i am aware of there were[at one time a BUNCH of years ago !] only a couple of vendors for what you are looking for. i'm assuming[as you can guess by the use of that word....] you are refering to a double contact socket using an 1156 style pin index[pins 180* from each other and on the same plane] with an 1157 base size. if i recall, these specialty bulbs were intended to be used in early ford tail lites, possibly somewhere around the 40-50 model year as well as other makes. i think the 6v double contact sockets you are refering to were used by lots of manufacturers , but the light was not grounded thru the base - it used 1 hot & 1 ground pigtail in the socket to complete the curcuit, thus the 180* pin layout. it didn't matter which way the bulb was installed. as to the vendors of these bulbs, it's possible that one of the early electrical guys had these made specially for this application. ron francis perhaps ? i didn't check that website to see what is available, so i'm just guessing. i would rather bet you will probably have to re-socket your tail lites. sorry i can't be of more help. merry christmas to ya ! eric

#1176 is a dual-filament 12 volt bulb with straight across pins. The Ford and Studebakers suppliers will have them if regular sources don't.

you are right john ! i overlooked that # in my ge catalog. i mistakenly thought that was a 6v. bulb ! my appologies to all for the goof! i looked in my "macs antique auto parts" catalog[macsautoparts.com] and they list 2 bulbs.
v13465f : 32-3cp[i believe this is the same cp as a 1157 bulb] , 12v [0.75ea] fits 28-48 ford
v13465fh : 50-20cp 12v halogen "super bright" [$10.00 ea] fits 28-48 ford
both are stop and tail. i think these would work.

Ok here is a heads up on these bulbs. The V13465F is offset pins, and looks to be an 1157 type bulb.
However, the good news, is Advance Auto Parts has the 1176 in stock and it works!

Thanks

Mark

thanks for the update on these bulbs mark ! in the catalog, it sure looked like these were a "straight across" pin. glad you could find the 1176 bulb locally. wonder what the original application was for those ?

The salesman at Advance said it fit some Mustangs! He wasn't specific though. I should have asked!
