If that is a scribe line matching your cylinder bore, why would you not open up the chamber up to match the bore? Kinda looks like the valves are still shrouded and opening up to the bore would free up a little CFMs. Just asking. They look very nice by the way!! ....there is nothing like driving my 1968 Hemi Dart around town and having people looking at you like you're nuts!!

This way if you have a block with some core shift you can move the bore around a little and then match the chamber to it. Free advice and worth every penny... This takes care of the core shift problems. W5DART66 OP top fuel Joined: Jan 2003 Posts: 1,784 PA	Its same intake port as the W9 and now has better chamber but I have not flowed them yet as I am getting first 2 sets of the W9 program done next week (I HOPE) The chamber in the W8 was just the chapman/mopar with little work.

Another thing is,does anyone out there know of anybody that can make headers for this beast in a Duster?Again,IF it's possible,keep the t-bars.

Leon441 master Joined: Nov 2004 Posts: 4,330 Lynchburg, VA	My CFE w8's had a sleeve where the head stud area was broken through. They also used a 7/16 head stud instead of the 1/2". Was told the sleeve was to strengthen the head so the head stud when torqued down would not crack the head. Probaly less chance of cracking the head with the less torque the 7/16 bolts require to stretch the stud. Leon Career best 8.02 @ 169 at 3050# and 10" tires small block power.

The port takes off .600" up and the sound is sweet.

I just bought a set of W9's and with those kind of numbers you could make some serious power. I was going to build a 440 small block, I might have to rethink that and go a bit bigger. I would really like to get those kind of number out of a set of B1-BS heads.

W5DART66 OP top fuel Joined: Jan 2003 Posts: 1,784 PA	I dont see any reason it should not. Most of the W9s that are CNC were Dirt track stuff not the best ports or chamber for GAS drag car. This set up is for drag car/fast street car. The W9 is much nicer than I thought going into this deal vs W8 early castings. The W9 is light but it has Material in the right spots for nice intake and exhaust ports. We did pressure check this set of heads at 100psi no leaks.

I ask b/c I have a set of fully ported W9's for my R1 block but the 59* block with it's 1.875 lifter bore spacing makes me nervous with the push rod angle.. I know I can run the offset rocker but the little 5/16 push rods is less than desirable for my boosted application.

So far I think W9s have not been given fare shake I think they will make good power but most of the W9 stuff was for dirt track ports and chamber all wrong. I did not like the W9 for same reason but now that I have worked with them they are nice, Intake port has more meat in it than early W8s. Draw back is the valve are .100" closer to exhaust side of head.(this will hurt small bore more and small bore with big lift .750"plus will be at disadvantage) I think if you are doing W9 engine you should run 4.150 bore or bigger then valve placement would be a wash. The other thing I am updating 3 sets of W8s right now and they are all a PITA start with new W9s and dont look back. I think my W9 in max effort NA deal can do 850~900HP to be seen but the data on the head backs this up now just need some one to step up and build one.

I guess what I am asking is will your program working in an older W9 and a W9 RP just the same?

And beside NRE gets 1500hp out of heads that flow about 300 cfm when boosted & I'm not sure if efi engines suffer from large ports on the street like a carb'ed engine @ low rpms.I usually go for the overkill side of everything ( And usually wind up with a mess)God they look sweet though
