Make sense, sounds good. When I was putting my 472 together, during the mock up I put the heads on and then scribe the head to the block. This takes care of the core shift problems. Just my Keep us posted on the build, looking good!!

Flow on the intake port should be close to this as its getting same intake port as the W8 I did. I hope to have 2 sets of the W9s done next week flow #s 0.4000 276.3 0.4500 303.2 0.5000 328.6 0.5500 350.4 0.6000 367.5 0.6500 377.6 0.7000 382.3 0.7500 389.4 0.8000 394.3 0.8500 399.0 0.9000 402.8 This is at 28" of water port is nice and smooth.

are they paper thin at that size? it's about time for me to start working on my w 9 engine again . it will be boosted so I'm not sure that will need them large though lol

Not that thin but whats nice about having program on file for this head now is we can do just what you are saying. I can add .020" to the entire intake program.

My CFE w8's had a sleeve where the head stud area was broken through. They also used a 7/16 head stud instead of the 1/2". Was told the sleeve was to strengthen the head so the head stud when torqued down would not crack the head. Probaly less chance of cracking the head with the less torque the 7/16 bolts require to stretch the stud.

Man that is real good! Do ever work on Big Blocks? I just bought a set of W9's and with those kind of numbers you could make some serious power. I was going to build a 440 small block, I might have to rethink that and go a bit bigger. I would really like to get those kind of number out of a set of B1-BS heads.

B1-BS head doesn't have a tall enough port for that kind of flow. Only so much you can do with a standard port height. Better capability with the Victor head or the Indy EZ due to the raised port. It would be nice though, standard height intake port and that kind of flow? It'd surprise the crap out of folks.

J,
If you had any tallent we could get 380 out of a set of B1-BS's.
p.s. another very quick street car is going to rumbling around the Carson area this summer. W9 440 in an A-body
Is that 440 block a 59* lifter bank angle block? I ask b/c I have a set of fully ported W9's for my R1 block but the 59* block with it's 1.875 lifter bore spacing makes me nervous with the push rod angle.. I know I can run the offset rocker but the little 5/16 push rods is less than desirable for my boosted application.

How you think the 9s compare to the 8s that you have worked on? just asking because there is always a talk about which will make more power and w9 cant make big power.
So far I think W9s have not been given fare shake I think they will make good power but most of the W9 stuff was for dirt track ports and chamber all wrong. I did not like the W9 for same reason but now that I have worked with them they are nice, Intake port has more meat in it than early W8s. Draw back is the valve are .100" closer to exhaust side of head.(this will hurt small bore more and small bore with big lift .750"plus will be at disadvantage) I think if you are doing W9 engine you should run 4.150 bore or bigger then valve placement would be a wash. The other thing I am updating 3 sets of W8s right now and they are all a PITA start with new W9s and dont look back. I think my W9 in max effort NA deal can do 850~900HP to be seen but the data on the head backs this up now just need some one to step up and build one.
