My CFE w8's had a sleeve where the head stud area was broken through. They also used a 7/16 head stud instead of the 1/2". Was told the sleeve was to strengthen the head so the head stud when torqued down would not crack the head. Probaly less chance of cracking the head with the less torque the 7/16 bolts require to stretch the stud.

I would put a sleeve in it just for the crush reason. I have done it on other heads and it works good.

The heads look real good and I'm intesested in having a set of W9's done.

Do you have any idea what the CnC charge will be?

PM me if need be.

Have you had a chance to do a valve job and flow a couple ports?

This is the #s right now(Right out of CNC) .Valve job no blend into chamber/light blend into bowl.
Lower lift/mid lift numbers will get better hate to put the numbers up but don't know when I will have time this week to do rest of the blend work and get them back on the flow bench.
The port takes off .600" up and the sound is sweet.

Man that is real good!

Do ever work on Big Blocks?

I just bought a set of W9's and with those kind of numbers you could make some serious power. I was going to build a 440 small block, I might have to rethink that and go a bit bigger.

I would really like to get those kind of number out of a set of B1-BS heads.

So a w8 and 9 should be pretty much close on power with the flow numbers on the 9s?

I dont see any reason it should not.
Most of the W9s that are CNC were Dirt track stuff not the best ports or chamber for GAS drag car.
This set up is for drag car/fast street car. The W9 is much nicer than I thought going into this deal vs W8 early castings.
The W9 is light but it has Material in the right spots for nice intake and exhaust ports. We did pressure check this set of heads at 100psi no leaks.

100 psi with no leaks, sounds like a boost friendly head.

So would you do a uncut w8 head for the same price or does the extra materal cost more? Just throwing it out there....
