Just a question for you..... If that is a scribe line matching your cylinder bore, why would you not open up the chamber up to match the bore? Kinda looks like the valves are still shrouded and opening up to the bore would free up a little CFMs. Just asking. They look very nice by the way!!

That line is 4.180 and you may not run this on a 4.180 bore.
This can be done by hand to run on large bore but makes head "fit" more Applications.

Not to mention not all bores are the same place in the block. This way if you have a block with some core shift you can move the bore around a little and then match the chamber to it.

Make sense, sounds good.

When I was putting my 472 together, during the mock up I put the heads on and then scribe the head to the block. This takes care of the core shift problems.

Just my

Keep us posted on the build, looking good!!

Flow on the intake port should be close to this as its getting same intake port as the W8 I did. I hope to have 2 sets of the W9s done next week
flow #s
0.4000 276.3
0.4500 303.2
0.5000 328.6
0.5500 350.4
0.6000 367.5
0.6500 377.6
0.7000 382.3
0.7500 389.4
0.8000 394.3

are they paper thin at that size? it's about time for me to start working on my w 9 engine again . it will be boosted so I'm not sure that will need them large though lol

Not that thin but whats nice about having program on file for this head now is we can do just what you are saying. I can add .020" to the entire intake program.

How does your w9 compare to your w8 flow numbers specs?

Its same intake port as the W9 and now has better chamber but I have not flowed them yet as I am getting first 2 sets of the W9 program done next week (I HOPE) The chamber in the W8 was just the chapman/mopar with little work.
