Have heard there`s some issues w/it for whatever reason but my heads are already buttoned up so I`m gonna run w/it so, what are you guys torqueing your e-heads or alum heads to w/arp lube and head bolts?............thankxxx......

i have w9's with arp studs. i beleive the torque was 70# with their lube. i let the heads sit over nite, then loosen & retorque the nuts in sequence. never had a leaker. seeya.

That`s where I`m at now and was told the same thing about re-torquing although I`ve never done it and have had zero issues/failures. Thankxxx........... So when you re-torque em do you start from scratch or back em off and go straight to 70 ft. lbs.?

I think Thumpers question is about the new ARP Ultra lube in the blue paks versus the older ARP dark grey moly lube in the white paks. I have heard that the new ARP Ultra lube has issues duplicating the same stretch on fasteners with the same torque when done on back to back testing Any one else heard or seen this?

Exactamundo.............is that a word? Went on the wed site and 70 ft. lbs. seems to be the ticket. Should be firing this thing up either tomorrow or sat.

I thought the whole retorque thing was after you heat cycle the engine once.I know some of the buick gn guys go are far as using heat guns to heat up the heads and then retorque them so they dont have to do it in the car.

what head gasket are you using??

I have never re-tourqed a head. I have used Fel Pro and Cometic gaskets. I use ARP lube and go in three steps 30, then 50 then 65 ( alum block and heads) then i prob re check about 5 times...LOL

I`m using the fel-pro 17059 marine gaskets and after sitting a few hours they actually took a bit more torque. Thankxxxx guys............man, I`ve never ran into this many snags building a motor which means this puppy`s gonna fly.
