After removing the cab, bed, and front clip, I spent hours removing the surface rust on the frame. Was able to use the sandblaster at the local Air Base Hobby shop to blast the steering knuckles, rotors, strut rods, springs and various small items. Used Rustoleum semi gloss on the frame. Had the rotos turned, purchased rebuilt calipers, new pads, bearings, etc. Here are a few pix of my progress. Moparts members have really helped me out with parts and tech advice.

I just got a set of the polyloc mounts from member Dragula(very cheap I may add, thanks Randy) they look to be solid enuff, but I also used a pattern off of a set of elephant ears to make a steel driver side torque strap. I will have the one side of a truck wp housing milled the thickness of the plate so nothing moves on the belt alinement. then weld up a quik pin mount at the frame for it. just need to have machine work done and it will have 1 elephant ear you could nix the mounts and let the engine bracket sit down on the frame and bolt it in solid,it has enuff room on the pan and the holes line up when I mocked mine up looking

That chassis looks great. If you blasted the spindles, you might wanna consider clear coating them to prevent them from rusting. I couldn't tell if you treated them or not. Keep up the good work!!! Mike

it came stock on some trucks and it is repoped now also or a JY. was a problem solver from the factory, the trucks like to crack the frame at the box bolt holes. it will firm the steering right up,a swaybar up front is another good upgrade on the 2x trucks. not sure where he got his,it looks new,but then agian everything he has done up looks new

Wow!! That really looks good I am going to redo my 4x4 frame next year and hope it looks half as good as yours. Keep up the good work!! That garage looks more like a vehicle bedroom than a garage

what brake system are you going to be using? Manual or power? I dont think you are going to get even the small diameter power booster to clear those valve covers. Are you going to use a relocation kit, or

If the heater box is an issue, and you want some heat, this item might help. If you buy just the inside the cabin part, and plumb it into your original heater hose lines. You will have heat, in a nice compact unit. Heck you may even be able to duct it so the vents work. http://www.aquahotoffroad.com/Pages/offroadheater.htm

As Harry mentioned the 89-93 Diesel motor mounts are a bolt in fit for the /6 and v8 engines.
I used them on my 440 swap in the Ramcharger. They are a tad taller, maybe 3/16 to 1/4 inch. But they have more material, and are very tough. Also they have the locking tabs so if they do fail, the motor wont jump out and head down the road by itself.
Surprisingly the mount on the left is the cheaper Anchor #2710 and it has more material, and is better than the more expensive NAPA mount.
The middle is the stock, factory mount, well torn.

Not sure how much the rise helps, but I installed a set of Flowtech headers (Had them installed with help of friends).
The tubes all clear, and nothing had to be dinged. The headers will still a pita to get in there. If doing it again, I would install the headers in the truck, then drop in the motor.
Arent Bigblocks 2 and 4wd specific when it comes to headers?

my flow techs that listed for 2x and 4x4 did not fit on the 2x truck on driver side, beat 50% of #1 tube almost flat and still did not fit flowtech = junk
the passide will have the tubes moved over for the front drive shaft to move up and down with chassis/driveline flex.
I would go with hedmans that are BB 2x spicific,IMHO

yes a standerd long tail shaft 727 fits center of trans mount bolts should be 7" from rear of trans case. most short shafts have this same 7" distance and will work with the slip/spline drive shaft. the BB 727 i have in my truck was from a 1 1/4 ton MH cassis, the center of mount bolts was 5"..I had to move my xmember foward 2" and build it from square stock and the lower support braces of the stock cross member. it also used a early flat thin rubber trans mount like a 71 truck, the spedo was behind the mount and not in front so a stock xmember no worky. that would be the only thing to watch for hunting,as long as the spaceing is 7" it bolts in. glad you got the e-brake peice,i had no luck in the JY today for anything, nice walk in nice weather though this 727 shorty was the first oddball one I have seen with the mount, speedo, huge 4 5/8 u-joint...the yoke did swap out to a 7260 though.

Just an FYI, Rock Auto currently has a smoking closeout deal on the 2710 Anchor Brand mounts! $6.41 + ship each! I bought 2 pairs (4 mounts) and it was $34.30 to my door! For that price I'll have 'em on the shelf when I get ready for 'em. Quote:

the shackle flip and axle floped on top of the springs sets it right up for caltracs and lowers the truck 4-5 inches,it will give a nice drag truck stance, ride much better. a few of the high HP trucks are running the flip flop,I did mine this way after seeing member 'clutch' blue drag truck with a wheels up launch. very ez to do and uses all stock truck/car parts. hers a shot of the shackle flip, you use a set of front spring hangers on the back, use car shock plates and u-bolts,wagon shocks...and now would be the time in your build as it apart and ez to get at.

its a tad lower than I like but it sure lifts and hooks so far. IMHO,the lift bars do the same thing a caltrac does, just applys pressure on the spring from the bottom instead of the top. may not be as good as a caltrac set up but it has the old skool slapper bar look I was after. my front is higher than the rear so I am going to drop the front 1 or 2 inches next.

now thats real cold. I dont know right off what one weighes, but it is kind heavy with 2 people lifting by hand. I am scraping the hurst crapola shifter on mine, been notheing but a headache trying to get it to shift right. I have been using the colum shifter in everything mopar for yrs so I know how it works and can shift it myself. mechanical linkage is the way I should have set it up in the first place and that 200 bux would have been beetr used esle where.
