Here is a pix of the engine setting in the frame. I used my engine stand support and a piece of 36" rectangle tubing to support the rear.

Lots of room underneath the pan; here's a pix of the pass side using diesel engine mounts.

Ok, what are the "extra" bolts for at the bottom of the engine block. Just above the oil pan. looks to be 4 on each side.

My guess would be the main bearings are cross bolted, think 4 bolt mains, Hemi style. Two in the normal location, and two through the side of the block. Gene

hp383, this is a cross bolted main block. A dodge dealer on the east coast was one of the ones ordered to close and they liquidated all their parts. I bought the MP (World) bare block for less than half price and built a 512 out of it. Had issues with the releif valve sticking when I ran it on a friend's dyno and had to change the pump out. I'll touch up the block before its all over with. LOL Do you think the extra little rise caused by the diesel mounts will help the header clearances??? It has about 8 dyno pulls and 500 road miles on it already. Friend couldn't afford the 67 Coronet with the motor so I pulled it and we put in a mild 440 and he is happy. And I will be happy; might take a while but the work keeps me occupied; better than sittin in the rockin chair

Not sure how much the rise helps, but I installed a set of Flowtech headers (Had them installed with help of friends).

The tubes all clear, and nothing had to be dinged. The headers will still a pita to get in there. If doing it again, I would install the headers in the truck, then drop in the motor.

my flow techs that listed for 2x and 4x4 did not fit on the 2x truck on driver side, beat 50% of #1 tube almost flat and still did not fit flowtech = junk

the passide will have the tubes moved over for the front drive shaft to move up and down with chassis/driveline flex.

I would go with hedmans that are BB 2x spicific,IMHO

Larry,
Did you ever find a usable bellcrank? I got out to check the parts truck and the one on there still pivots. Not freely of course, but I can swing it by hand, so it's a good candidate for repairs. I might could get out there this weekend and get it if you want or you can come get it.
Mike

Thanks Scratch; hey I think 1E2C has a p. brake bellcrank that moves and he is close to me.

Got a question about 727s will a standard long (18 3/8") tailshaft work in my frame? Or do I need a short shaft one? Thanks

Larry

yes a standerd long tail shaft 727 fits

center of trans mount bolts should be 7" from rear of trans case.

most short shafts have this same 7" distance and will work with the slip/spline drive shaft.

the BB 727 i have in my truck was from a 1 1/4 ton MH cassis, the center of mount bolts was 5"..I had to move my xmember foward 2" and build it from square stock and the lower support braces of the stock cross member.

it also used a early flat thin rubber trans mount like a 71 truck, the spedo was behind the mount and not in front so a stock xmember no worky.

that would be the only thing to watch for hunting,as long as the spaceing is 7" it bolts in.

glad you got the e-brake peice,i had no luck in the JY today for anything, nice walk in nice weather though

this 727 shorty was the first oddball one I have seen with the mount, speedo, huge 4 5/8 u-joint...the yoke did swap out to a 7260 though.

They all came with the standard long tailshaft 727, I'm even using the original automatic driveshaft with my 833 setup since it's all the typical stuff. It starts to get strange with some of the heavy duty or 4WD stuff though.
