I need help Identifying the differences in 68 to 70 b body dana 60.
What are the obvious differences? breaks, Emergency Break Cable, Part Number locations. I have a 70 gtx I need one for and have severl friends that I can get one from but want to make sure of application. Any pictures and help is appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

If it has BREAKS you want to find one that is not broken.

That aside , the part number is stamped on the right side avle tube towards the center , the brake backing plates are the same , the drums may be different 68/69 vs. 70 , the E brake cables are the same , 68 will have a drain plug in the bottom of the housing.

10 20 9 = Assy date Oct 20, 1969, correct for a 70 vehicle.

603080-3 is the Bill of Material numbers...application is 1969-1971 E-Body with 4:10 gears and Powr-lok...date code (after August of 1969) makes it appropriate for 1970 car...looks like your in business here's a thread with more info https://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/show...amp;Search=true

Thanks for the info Very Helpful. It is a 4:10 geared Dana and measures 61 5/8" flange to flange. Problem is I need it for a 70 GTX and not right for b body So back to square 1.

I don't have a picture but it's a recessed drive plug in the bottom ofthe housing , the recess accepts a 1/2" square drive.

John, have you actually verified by the BOM that a '68 housing has a drain plug? I went through this years ago and came away with the thought that only the '66-'67 units were unique by having a drain plug and being a bit narrower than the other B-body Dana's.

All 3 of my 1967 B body Dana 60`s have the drain plug on them. The two 1968 dana 60`s I had did not have the drain plug on them.

I was actually at the car that has this rear today but didn't look at it , I'll have it checked but I am pretty sure it is a 68 axle .
