I have a R3 with 2.25"(Ford) mains that i need a rear main seal for. What seal do they use? I haven't done any real research, but i assume it"ll use either a standard 340/360 seal or a 302 ford seal. Anyone?

Seriously doubt it.

You probably have a Signal brand seal. Can't imagine one going bad. Is it a big split peice of rubber with an O-ring around it. Post a picture maybe we can help you out.

My block uses a Signal seal due to the better sealing properties over a standard lip seal. The block is specialy cut for this and can not be changed back.

Leon,
Yes, the seal out of my block had the rubber o-ring around it. I wasn't sure if this was a R3 thing or not. I had the motor apart going over things and figured i'd replace it. Are replacements easy to get?

You need the width of the seal, the OD and ID and I think CV Products can sell you the seal. I have an extra as I replaced mine once. But, it was not hurt. I suspect the same seal is used on the R5 but, I don't know.

See if Tri-Tec has a seal for it. They make the good seals for dry sump motors.
