I have a 10 year old Craftsman dial back and a Flaming River self contained unit. I compared them the other day and found that the Craftsman had about 2 * more timng when set at zero and about 1*-1.5* more advance when the knob was set at minimum as referenced to the Flaming River.
I know dial backs are not reccomended by MSD.

As any one had success with the dial back from Equus?

x2 on the flaming river timing light or any analog timing light will work. I have a flaming river and for the money it can't be beat

I use an old analog Snap-On dial back light and it works very well with my Firecore distributor and MSD 6AL box.Now with the MP electronic distributor and the MSD the timing was erratic by 5 degrees both ways

I have a craftsman silver light( non dial) and a digital snap-on light. They both read the same with my 6al box.

X 2 - Same here, works perfect. You don't need a dial back, just mark the balancer around 35* and your all set.
