How much power would it take to put a 3500lb car over 200mph?

What body style???

Even a slippery car and a good chassis, it's going to be well north of 2000.

Over what distance? 1/4, full mile, absolute??
As stated before, bodystyle means alot here too.

top speed has less to do with weight and power than it has to do with coefficient of drag. a drop tank at bonneville could prolly hit 200 with maybe 300 rwhp? as an added complication, traction usually becomes the limiting factor when you have a lot of power in a brick. you're up against an aerodynamic "brick wall". spinning your wheels trying to push the car through the air. the salt doesn't have real good traction, relatively speaking, so minimizing aerodynamic drag is job one. then move on to the other stuff. weight is often times your friend when going for all out speed. weight can improve traction. i would love to take my scamp to the salt and see if it will do 200, but i know that as it sits, though it may have enough power, it's a box on a box, and there is no way that's gonna happen. it would have to be MUCH slipperier.

Sorry. 200mph in a 69 roadrunner. I was guessing 2000+ hp.

My car currently has 730hp and runs 10's. Car feels really slow to me now.
Thinking about really stepping it up to bring back the fun. Thinking big turbo motor.

730hp @ 3500# should be well into the 9s. I'd square away the car with the current engine before I'd make a big jump.

Although, twins on a bigblock will certainly get rid of the "feels really slow" issue.

you should be well into the 9's w/ that kind of power. To hit 200 you might need to do a few things. Lighten the car up. Block off the grill, use a front spoiler lower the car.... I used an online calculator and a 3650 lb car would need about 1400 hp to hit 200 in the 1/4. Not saying that's too much or not enough, just what the computer spit out. As mentioned a wedged shaped car is going to do it easier than a brick.

With me in the car it weighs 3750lbs. The car is tuned about as fast as it will go. Might hit a 9 if it's cold enough I guess.

1400 in a 3650lb car won't get anywhere close to 200

No Problem call these guys for engine details..

What about the chassis??
Set another $50K+ aside for that too.
You are at dang near Pro Mod levels with that setup.
Just look at Jimmy's Dart, not sure what it ended up running, but your over 1000 lbs more too
Id say $150K could get you out for half a season...maybe...

My calculator says about double will do the deed.

the guy with the silver coronet (Matt) goes 191mph on a german highway.
Might send him a mail. Car could go faster. it is a 440 with some good internal parts.
