i am terrible at electrical trouble shooting and need some help. We have been havine starting problems with our 92 acclaim not starting once and awhile, and now it wont start at all and is getting no fuel . Before this i put a new fuel filter on and replaced the auto shutdown relay, worked for abit and now it wont start at all. the autoshut down relay gets voltage but my fuel pump gets none. what are some good things to check to find my voltage loss. I cleaned the ground on the engine by the battery as well, any help would be great, thanks

don't want to ask an obvious question, but have you checked the connector at the f/p / send unit. these plastic connectors often get busted at time of service ( tabs that lock connector in place ), and you can lose power to the pump. if it is not properly seated or a pin is bent, you could have an intermitent problem. you didn't say where you checked for voltage to the pump.

i disconected the conection that goes into the fule pump its self and used a mulitmeter, the conecter look as if it had't been touched in a long time, the gas guage shows fuel in the tank so i think that means the sending unit is working, again any help is great.

if you have battery voltage and a good ground at the f/p connector, your pump should run.

I had a 93 that acted like a bad fuel pump. Found out it was the wiring at/near the battery and computer. You might have to run a hot wire from the computer to the relay box. At least this is what I think the guy did to fix it. You have checked the relay?

Which relay? does the sending unit and the F/P share the same ground?

power to the relay, do you have power out? agree, you need to look for corrosion ( green ) in the wiring at relay and computer. you should get a good wiring diagram if you can.

x2. Do you have power comming out of the relay? Also, fuel pump will prime for 2 seconds or so each time you turn the key. But after 3 or 4 times it stops priming, I think the computer just assumes you're flooding the engine, so it stops priming.
