We had a good day working on my Allstate. I say we, because seven friends came by to help me put the body back on the chassis.
All went well. We installed some of the other sheet metal parts as well.
I got really motivated, and hated to call it a day and go home.

Eric,
I don't have any pics, but I will take one for you. It isn't anything clever though. They are held on by 1/8" pop rivets with over sized heads, three to 4" apart. I will seal the tubs where they mount with clear seam sealer.
Thanks,
Mark

very nice mark ! i figured you were using some seam sealer. i was just wondering about the fastener spacing, and how many you used. that helped a bunch . thanks ! eric

Thanks Marc,
I appreciate it very much.
I think there is a light at the end of the tunnel! LOL We have bled the brakes, and that is now the first functioning mechanical system in ...a very long time!
I have had time to work on the car because work has been slow here.
Have you been working on the new floor for your coupe? Any pictures?

absolutely amazing ! i'll bet it really feels good putting parts in place that will stay ! one question if i may. on your battery cut off switch rod it appears at the heim end it is attached to a swivel of sorts on the rod. is that just an illusion caused by the camera angle ?

Eric it is a swivel. That connection was more time consuming than it looks. That switch moves up and down when it rotates. That is probably less of a problem with a longer rod, than with the short one. I found that swivel on Mcmaster-Carr's online catalog. The rod is riding in a Delrin bushing that is machined to mount on the inside the body, and a thin part that passes through the body, so as to protect the paint there from being chipped.
It does seem strange to put things together now to stay! Like putting grease in the rear end, or brake fluid etc.
Thanks,
Mark

I might have known you would be doing two at once!!!
That is a bunch of work. One at a time is all I can handle.
Got any pictures ?

David,
Thanks for the kind words. It helps to get feedback from all you guys here.
David, I see that you have the Bad A$$ road runner thing covered!
The 68 in the back round has been in my family since it was new. My Dad bought it for my mother in July 68 and I got the honor of driving it off the lot and home to Mom!
It remains mostly stock and original except for a repaint in 1981 to change it from the frost green. It is a matching number car except for the water pump, alternator, and the rear chunk. The 383 is .030 over and has a small Comp cam hyd. 727 trans is stock too.
I hope to repair and repaint it as soon as I finish the Allstate. I have built a 470 low deck stroker for it to play with, and save the 383 from abuse! It already survived 3 teenagers driving it!
Thanks for asking.

Mark

Oh
Great Story Mark, I am Glad it survived the 3 teenagers. ha ha
It Looks Nice.
I grew up with 2 different 69 RR's when I was young, mom's was a 383, console auto , hrdtp, green ext, green int. It got sold to our cousin later on but we got it New from the dealership.
My dad's is a 383 4spd, coupe, buckets and No console, black int, black ext, #'s matching but rusty. We still have it and it was bought in 1971 used by my dad. Our RR's also survived 3 teenagers.
Hopefully it will get restored but I have other cars infront first.
First car to get done is an 69 A12 RR, then my dad's 36 ply coupe street rod. My brother is incharge of doing dad's RR.
Take Care Mark, Keep Up The Great Work, and Keep The Photos Coming.
David

Very cool to have had two RRs for your parents cars! That's a hard core Mopar family! A close friend of mine's mother had a 69 383 car, and he had an A12 the same color combination.
Love the A 12 cars.
My car needs rust repairs too. For now, I just collect parts for it when I can, and try to focus on the Allstate.
As bad as the 68 looks guys still seem to like her.
Thanks Dave, I will keep on

I have decided that it might be a good time to wire the Allstate while there is easy access to everything.
How does it look so far?

The wire braid looks cool, but, if you ever have to get into that harness to do something, you might grow to dislike it very quickly.
Its not nearly as cool looking, but its hard to beat those corrugated wire looms like most of the new cars have. You can get it in many colors, and if you ever have to do something with a wire, you can pull it out, do what needs done and put it back. Of course, I mostly deal with used junk, your experiences may be different then mine. Gene

Gene,
I have always used the OEM type shielding, and it was always from some old wires around the shop. A friend told me the same thing about the wire braid being a problem to get into for changes or repairs. That wouldn't work for me at all. I tend to forget something, or want to add something later. I am looking at all options. I found this Summit brand that is split, and not too expensive either. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-890341/
I would like to see it though.
I may wind up going back to the corrugated wrap in the end.
Thanks
Mark

That split loom stuff works pretty well. Originally is was used in GM cars back in the 70s and many years after. Other car companies have used it as well. It can be had in a few different sizes, 1", 3/4", 1/2" and I think 3/8". It can also be had in different colors, I've seen black, blue, red, purple and yellow. Its probably available in a few other colors as well. One advantage of the black is you can wrap a short piece of electrical tape around the ends and anywhere along its length, in case you try to stuff too many wires into the loom. I have no idea where to find it online, my old eyes can't see that picture at the summit website well enough to be sure its the same stuff I've used, but it doesn't look right to me. I've always gotten mine from the big swap meet in Jefferson WI, so it has to be available someplace. Not much help, I know, sorry. Gene

mark, looks like you have a full plate of "spagetti" ! i saw something in the new rod&custom mag called ultra wrap. it looks like a braided covering, but the one pic looks like it splits like the oem ribbed stuff[which i really don't care for at all]. it comes in a bunch of colors, but i don't know about sizes. www.keepitcleanwiring.com
i'm going to check it out later today.

Well Larry it looks like you are doing that type of work! Great picture!
I don't know if it had a glove box or not, because the firewall, and dash were cut out when it was made into a gasser in the early 60s. I cut the cowl, and dash out of a parts car and welded it in. That one, did not have a glove box, or a trunk
Good to see you still have Ol Plymouth.
Thanks for the kind words.

Eric,
I bought the Summit brand sleeve, and I like it a lot. Been making some progress on the wiring. I decided to put the relays, solenoid, and fuse panel in an easy to reach location, the glove box!
I am trying to make this thing easy for an old guy to work on!

mark, if we ever get these projects done, do you supose us "old guys" will need to "work on 'em" ? the only thing i have accomplished this winter so far[it's 25* & snowing now] is get the hump 22" up in the air and re-work the rear frame section so it is where it needs to be for the rearmost body mounts and i can get started on the rear door opening/floor tinwork.

I think, that as a member of the "old guys" club, we build this stuff so its easier to work on IF we ever have to, hoping we are not the ones that would have to do any repair work. We have all seen some of the stuff the engineers have given us over the years, and we are determined our project will be better for the guy that has to do something on it in the future.

At least that's what I would like to think........Gene

Gene,
I couldn't have said it better. I have many times said I would love to see the guy that designed this ,,,, what ever, take it out to replace it. If they had to do that, they would think more about servicing these parts when they design them!

gene, you sure hit the nail on the head ! i know it's tough to fit 15# of stuff in a 2# bag, but it is nice to be able to service something without having to dismantle the whole vehicle to do so.......

I agree with you Gene, I am working on my race truck and my 46 coe PU on the dakota chassis and It takes a little longer making something just so it will be easier to do something later. I am working on the floor and engine cover and am making the top cover so it can come off with a few latches and the lower floor area needs to be removable to get at the valve covers and spark plugs, I also had to make the firewall removable so the engine could be removed with out having to take the cab off the frame.

on the race truck I made the mounts for the frontend so I could just take out a few Dzus clips and the whole frontend can be removed,
also it has fenderwell headers and they can be removed with the fronend in place or with the frontend off and you don't have to remove anything else
I made it so the bed is mounted on (6) 3/8 studs and it can be removed in about 2 minutes with 2 people...

Oh and Mark the car is looking great Ron...

Ron,
It seems we are all thinking along the same lines as far as serviceability (is that a word? )
This is what mounts the tilt front end on my car . It allows the front end to pull forward and clear the doors before rotating up.
Thanks,
Mark

Before, it took two guys to hold the bottom edges of the front fenders to keep them from scribing an arc into the doors when the doghouse was tilted.
This cures that problem.

thats a nice setup on your tilt nose mark. does the slider pin have an internal stop in the tube to keep it from coming out of the frame horn ? also, did i ever ask you what your front and rear spring rate was ?

Eric,
Yes there is an internal stop.
I don't know what the spring rate is. It was chosen for me. I have always been suspicious of the way the coils "sit"!?
Here is another shot of the "hinge".

That is so COOL!!!!
its all the little things people dont see that make a project take so long to get done. but it IS worth the extra time when it's finished and you know how nice it works because of how you did it Ron...

I have to admit that I did not design this arrangement. It was an idea I had, that my friend Craig designed and built.

I need to beef up the 727 before it gets installed and I it's going to have to wait for more funds. Soo....... I decided to paint and install some more parts!!

Mark,
Your car is just wicked! Don't know how else to say it. I don't know if I missed it somewhere along the line, is this a race car or street car? I wish I could do work like that!

Arno,
The Allstate has been a race car since the 60s when it was a gasser with a "blown Olds". I raced it 1979 to 1981, ( BBC) when the outdated "safety" equipment became an issue.
I decided that for my money, drag racing meant to little time behind the wheel actually driving, and so this time it would be street legal! That means that all the race parts are a compromize, (sp?)like the rear end is not a spool, but rather a posi unit. The compression is 10.5 to 1 etc. But, I still want to make some drag strip passes to see how it performs!
I have finally got the papers squared away and insurance for street use. I just have to pick up the license plate.
Thanks for the kind remarks Arno.
Have you picked out your frame color yet?

Mark,
The Allstate has been sitting since 1981? Wow! I did some racing in the 70's and 80's. It seems different now. I go out with my buddy and his 59 Super Gas Vette and it seems like we just sit and wait. I think you have the right idea with a street/strip car. Keep the pics coming!

Arno,
Yes it hasn't run since "81"! Obviously that is a long story. But I have owned the car since "69" so, it is actually even longer!
A lot of stuff happens in that time span. I had a guy install a back half to up date the rear. I painted his race car in trade. Well, I wound up cutting that out and tossing it. Then I fabricated a steel dash over electrical conduit. A lot of curves and contours. Then found out that wasn't legal! So I cut it out and tossed it!
My partner sold the BBC engine, and so on. So,,, I started over again. My fiance' said I should build the Hemi if that is what I really wanted. I ordered an empty block from Thousand Oaks California, and would order more parts as I raised the money for them. I finished it, and two years ago I sold it and built a bigger one. I ordered an Alston rear ladder bar kit, but sold it, to a friend. I then ordered a pre-welded frame from Art Morrison about 1997 with Pinto type suspension.I didn't want to build a jig to square and level a home built frame, and I didn't really know how.
You can see this was a slow process. I tried to perfect each part of the car as I went. Then, as it was pointed out to me, I was not going to finish the car in this lifetime, if I kept doing things that way. So.... I have relaxed the standard, somewhat in an effort to finish the car , and have some fun with it.
Like you said Arno, when I went to the strip with a friend, there was a hole lot of waiting to make a pass! It will be much different from the last time, for sure.

geeze mark, you have got a super "head start" on me 'cause you have had the allstate since '69 and i have only had the humpback since '73 ! no wonder you are almost done ! i got a buddy that also jumps me about every other day[it seems] that i better "hurry up", or i won't get this lump done in time to park it at the rest home ! it is tough to "relax" high standards just to "git 'er done", but it looks to me your standards were WAY HIGH to start, and you sure didn't lower 'em by much [ if any !] when is the "road test" guestimate ?

Well now that surprises me Eric! I didn't think anyone here would have held on to a car that long! Yep , I definitely got a head start on you!
I have pretty much decided that I will not be putting the engine on the dyno. I need those funds for transmission upgrades, street tires, door glass, upholstery, and probably some things I have over looked. It would have been fun,and informative, (carb tuning etc) but I can get it going without that expense.
Completion date still has a lot of variables, but I am hoping that this spring will see the car on the street.
How are those rear body mounts coming along?

i got the rear frame rails where they should be now. that was done over newyears. the door opening had to be straightened up first befor the mounts can be made. it was 7/8" wider at the bottom than the top, and the opening was racked 1 3/32" from square. i got that mess straightened out and a couple of temporary angles cut to weld to the rear rails and the door jams to keep the body in place while i make up some permant mounting points. ATTENTION BOYS AND GIRLS : make SURE you BRACE your body good BEFORE you start major modifications. it makes life MUCH EASIER when you glue it back together ! i'll try to get some pics this weekend if i can.

Hey Marc,
It's good to see you back here!
It sounds like you are ready to make some major progress. Of course I am most interested in your coupe! Have you been able to work on the floor pans? You know this thread is more fun with pictures!
As for the Allstate I have been working on the wiring and mounting switches, and have functioning wipers!I am having a friend cut the front door glass and have it tempered, the power windows are ready. LOL I went and picked up the license plates, and that was a great feeling after all these years, I can hit the street....legally!
I have followed your lead on the transmission, and talked with John at CRT. I sold my trans and will be getting one from John.
No new pictures right now, but hopefully something soon.

Mark

Here is a picture from 1981. I found it on the web.

Mark, Great picture! What kind of times were you running? Also, what power windows setup did you go with?

Thanks Arno,
The best times were a string of (3) 10.43 @ 129mph. The car was geared too low for the 1/4 and would peak early. That was probably the last pass on the car in that picture, and the last day for that track. The picture is from Bluegrass Dragway racer's Reunion.
The power window kit was a cheap one. I will get the name off the box for you, but I honestly think that it sounds cheap when runs too. Oh well, I am not changing them now.
Here is one of my favorite pics of the racing days.

Arno,
The power window kit was from It's a Snap! 866-462-7628
I notice there is a plastic sleeve I need to install on the cable feed for the regulator. That cable rubbing the inside of the door may be why it sounds bad. I hope/think it may quiet things down some when I install that sleeve. Also, my doors are fiberglass and seem to resonate the sounds.
Mark

Update: I installed the sleeve and the regulator isn't too bad considering there is no door panel on it presently.

Cool, Thanks Mark. I am getting close to where I will need to decide on one setup or another. Any preferences out there?

i am ashamed ! no real excuse, but i REALLY don't like the camera i got now ! i don't think it takes good pics, and i've tried lots of different settings on it. they almost always turn out grainey[ if that's a word ?] or somewhat out of focus. maybe it's me not holding it still ? i tried rigging up a mount,[like a tri-pod] but then that is in the road of getting the shot i want. anyway.......... then it got really cold...... arghhhhh........

That would be great! If you can send some pics it would be good or let me know what brand it is I could look it up online.

Thanks

Bob, I didn't do the sheet metal work.It was done by Craig @ R&R Chassis in Louiville Ky. I took the car there to have the roll cage built and then added the tubs. I liked what he did, and so had him keep going. He also built the headers. I really love his work! that was about ten years ago!
Thanks,
Mark

I decided to put the engine back in without the dyno time I had hoped for. The transmission ate up all available funds.Oh well I will tune it the Old School way without the help of the dyno.

Thank you for your post and kind words.
I really enjoy seeing what everyone is doing here. I am getting excited to see my old car coming together after so many years, and so I am taking a lot of pictures.
I am glad that you like them.

Oh
Mark as I have said before "This Is One First Class Ride" you are building.
You are doing an Amazing Job on the car and it is Showing Bigtime!!!
I Wish my 36 ply coupe project was at the same stage as your car.
I guess I need to start on it. First things first though, the A12 RR is underway now so the coupe will have to wait a couple more years.

AWESOME JOB MARK. Thanks for the photos and Inspiration!!!
David

Hey David,
I am proud that you, and others here like what I am trying to do. This positive response, is really motivating me to try, and finish the Allstate now. BTW, around The Shop the car is known as "Henry".

I would love to see some pictures of your A 12 RR sometime. Those A 12s are among my favorite Mopars.
I did the opposite of you, and did my old car first! LOL My RR is next.
Thank you David, I feel motivated!

Thanks Don,
I probably won't be leaving the car anywhere !!
I worry about things too much.
I do plan on doing a video of the start up, which should come very soon. I have been checking for gauge function, fuel pressure, cooling fans, leaks, and anything else I can think of to be ready. Already did a pre-lube on the stand, and will do another just prior to fire up.
I am using a single four intake to start with and will switch to an old Rat Roaster cross ram when I get the bugs out of the car. The fuel lines and linkage are a direct swap from one intake to the other, so it is fairly simple to do.
Thank you for your support.

That's one really cool build. Love the detail in the interior panelling, must have taken some time.

way cool

Thanks Mudgy,
The guy I had make those panels for the car, was a union sheet metal worker that was laid off at the time. We struck a deal that we both were happy with. He has many years experience and has done a lot of race cars. Great with a tig welder too.

No,they are not power assisted. The car has Wilwood discs all around. I never thought of going to power though.

Wow Eric! What a kind and generous offer! That is probably just about perfect.

I am not sure what my friend Terry has "in stock", but I will definitely keep this in mind.

Thank you very much!!!

Robert,
I put the Car Chemistry baffles in the headers. There are different restrictions that can be placed inside them. Right now they have none. I hope that it will quiet down some when I add the restriction, but right now, I am not too optimistic! LOL
The headers are 2 1/8" . Actually they were built for the first engine that I sold to a friend. It was 472 inch. These headers are probably a little small for this engine.
Thanks,
Mark

my guess,,,,you have a wild cam ?? probably doesnt make enough vacuum to allow for power brakes,,,2 wheel disc manual is fine on my car,,im sure 4 wheel disc with big rotors will stop on a DIME,,

Having a few issues with the old fiberglass doors as they are not real strong, and don't support the weight of the window frame, glass, and electric regulator, very well. I may have to make a guide or support to help align the door for closing.
I have to say that after installing the sleeve or plastic tube on the "It's a Snap" regulator that it really is a normal sounding unit. Not bad at all.
One door almost finished, with a minimum of collateral damage!

mark, what do you have in mind to "support" your door ? does it sag now or just not close "right". i just HATE to see a door slammed to close ! my humpy may not end up with a perfect body, but i guarentee the doors will close with a soft "click-click" one way or a 'nuther!

Eric,
I haven't decided what to do with the doors just yet. I thought this might be a problem when I rebuilt the doors, knowing that I wanted to put real glass in the doors this time.I reinforced the hinge mounting area, in hopes that would help support the added weight. The regulator isn't very heavy, but the combined weight is apparently too much! The door closes with a double "click" as you described. However it is dragging on the rocker at the rear.I made a temporary "skid" plate to protect the paint on the rocker. I can't decide if I want to make a small permanent "skid" plate there or what. I thought about using the UHMW plastic on the bottom of the door, and a stainless steel plate on the rocker, or,, try to make a turnbuckle and cable inside the door,to try and lift the rear!?!?
Any ideas ?
Thanks for asking.

i'm not familiar with how your hinge pocket is iside the door, but could you possibly replace one hinge bolt with a longer one that would allow some excess threads to protrude inside the door itself ? you could attach a turnbuckle to this as the upper point. then attach the lower point of the buckle[using cable as you thought of] to ??? at the bottom of the door and slightly pull as needed. can you see where the door is flexing ? i wonder if it's the jam area of the door where the hinge attaches, or possibly maybe the whole door mite be "curling" just a touch , causing the lower , inner edge to touch the rocker. i know what i want to say, just not sure i'm saying it as i want to. as the doors are glass, is it possible to "massage" the bottom a touch just for the clearance needed ? or would that allow for even more droop ? how thick is the door in that area ? i hate to suggest "paint surgery" because the car really looks killer !

Eric , what you described is exactly what I was thinking. Kind of like the brace on an old wood frame screen door. The longer upper bolt on the hinge to the lower rear corner. I think if I can do that inside the door without interference with the glass or regulator, it might work.
As far as the paint surgery, I already have some repair to do in that jamb. I am not too worried about that, just not too happy about it either!
I may relieve the offending area of the door on the bottom. That is a definite possibility. We need a grinder or sander smiley! The opening for the Bear claw is now lifting the door into position.

Thanks for the input Eric

Today we made a little more progress. Nothing big, but still moving forward.
I finished installing the "Line Lock" wiring and switch. I haven't done a proper test yet, but it clicks, so we will move on!
The trans "tunnel" fits pretty well, but I will need to find a seal for the firewall end. I am not sure where to look for that?

The other side view.
I need to decide if I am going to add restrictors to the baffles in the exhaust to try and quiet it down some? Now would be the ideal time.
Oddly enough most of the people I ask about it say to leave it alone!

i can't really see it, but if the trans tunnel seals against the firewall with just a minimal flange or just the edge of the tunnel, maybe you could use an extruded pc of rubber with a "u" grove, or take some vacuum hose and slit it with a razorblade ? what is the sealing "face" like ?

Eric,
There is a flange on the firewall, that supports the bottom of the tunnel. It's about 1 1/2" wide. I was thinking of a 3/8" thick or similar size foam weather strip type seal,1/2" wide or so. I guess it would need to be flame retardant? Otherwise I was going to look at Lowes, or Home Depot for something with adhesive on one side. I put a piece of door edge guard where the tunnel pushes the trans wires to the firewall to protect the wires.
I will post a picture, showing the flange.
I am open to suggestions.

Well..... I finally have a little progress... on the Charger.

The last year has sucked for me, one of my very best friends was diagnosed with cancer, he finally passed away April 23rd.
TopJimmy - James Ian Martin, was a diehard Chevy guy, but incredibly smart, totally into drag racing, and one of the funniest guys I have met. He just turned 49 years old.
I figure he would have LOVED to see my Charger at his service- he called it "the Marlin"... lol so I worked as hard as I could the last week and finally got it together and running. I have a day or so to get it drivable, his service is on the 11th.

The "car guy" world lost a great one.
I lost a great friend.

thanks for the pic mark. i thought you had a flange in there some place to have the tunnel lay on, but i wasn't sure how wide it was. the stuff ed linked from mcmaster should work good provided the "bulb" portion doesn't "lift" the tunnel tin and prevent it from laying as it should. a fire retardent seal would be good, but is it really necessary ? the factory removable tinwork for the trans tunnels in pickups was usually just sealed with dumdum or some other gooey stuff. i don't think it was anything special as far as being fire retardent. just throwing this out there.

thanks for the pic mark. i thought you had a flange in there some place to have the tunnel lay on, but i wasn't sure how wide it was. the stuff ed linked from mcmaster should work good provided the "bulb" portion doesn't "lift" the tunnel tin and prevent it from laying as it should. a fire retardent seal would be good, but is it really necessary ? the factory removable tinwork for the trans tunnels in pickups was usually just sealed with dumdum or some other gooey stuff. i don't think it was anything special as far as being fire retardent. just throwing this out there.

Eric,
You bring up some good points. Actually the tunnel doesn't fit evenly with the flange all the way around. I am hoping that a seal might help even it out some.
I guess it really would not have to be flame retardent, I was thinking what NHRA techs might complain about. But, most likely, they will be more concerned with my age!
Thanks Eric,
Mark

Thanks Marc,
I am trying man!
I need to coat the inside of the dog house over the tops of the front wheels with a bed-liner like coating to prevent rock damage. Then final prep for painting.
Also need to add a center brace for the hood scoop.

Eric,
I agree on the rear fenders. They sure look different from the ones I had before that were cut open, "Gasser Style".
I have not come up with a solution for the door. I am moving on forward for now, and hope that I will come up with an idea. It isn't real bad, but I am wondering what is going to happen when I put some power to the ground? Will things move/flex/change?

Thanks,
Mark

If I am posting too many pictures, "some body stop me"!
I mounted the right rear quarter panel and installed and wired the taillight. I decided it was a "Kodac Moment"!

That quarter had some issues as far as being "straight". We bonded a piece of 1/2" stainless steel tubing into the "character line", The tub then pushes it out where it was needed.
When I first mounted it I was shocked at the poor quality. When I contacted the manufacturer he said I was the only one to complain about them.

Thanks Guys,
We made a little more progress today. Working on the floor pan on the passenger side. The drivers side will follow after the heat shield for the master cylinder is in place.

nice job on the sheild mark ! just what i thought you had in mind. how high are your seat mounts and how do they attach to the seats ? looks like 1x1 tube ? is there any front/rear adjustment with them ?

Hey Eric,
The seat mounting frame work is 3/4" tubing. They have the sliding tracks (summit racing) mounting the seats to them, for adjustment.
The seat belts/shoulder harness is available with a cam lock or latch, pull up or pull down. Not sure what to get? Probably different opinions on that?

got some shop time in yesterday[finally] and fabbed up a couple of rear chassis supports for the humpback. these go from the "z" above the rear to the part of the rails that drop directly behind the rear. this will stiffen this area considerably. it will also be used to mount a pr. of snubbers for the axle tubes at full compression. i haven't got those yet, so i'll have to wait to see what the snubber attachment method will be. i'm inclined to think a simple internal "nut plate" will suffice for that. i had to clearance the side of the tube for shock spring clearance, as i have the shocks as far apart as i could get them packaged in the chassis. another thought i had was to incorporate mounts for an anti-roll bar on these tubes in case i decide to utilize one in the future. they would go between the clearance pocket and the center upright.

proposed anti-rollbar mounting location. mounts will be dictated by bar size and bushing choice. this bar may, or may not be utilized in the future. my guess is it will be easier to fab mounts on the bench than to tyr to do it under the car when done.

Eric,
I am having a little trouble picturing exactly what you are making, BUT,,, you are doing an impressive job of it! Very nice, neat, fabrication and welding!
Mark
P.S. Glad to see you working on the "Humpster" again!

Great to see you back on the humpback Eric
can't wait to see it done

I have been working on the 34 roadster PU lately
I really want the race truck finished but i have to split my time with these two

anyways I got the body mounts finished up and started on the grill shell mount and got the hood fitted, so now it is headed in the right direction.

don't mind the roof I picked it up for $30.00 at a swap meet(its for a ford roadster) but it is to narrow and a little short so I probably wont use it, but it gives me something to go off of Ron...

mark, here is a pic of where that chassis tube goes. i've been looking at bumpstops, but for some reason the ones i've seen that i think i want don't show the size specs [hint, hint prothane......]. it appears they are approximately 1 1/2" dia. x approximately 1/2- 3/4 thick[?] with a couple of center bolt bushings that appear to be for 3/8" bolts.
ron, you got a terrific deal on that glass lid ! you could probably re-fit that with out too much difficulty by adding a small strip in the center.

That's a cool project Ron,
What is the planned drive train?
I love the long look of the front end!

Hey Eric,
I can look through some catalogs for you if that is the size you are looking for?

Thanks Mark, the plan is for a 360 with J heads and a mild cam,727 with a manual valve body. it has a "B" body 8 3/4 rear with 3.23 gears. 4 bar setup in the rear and a mustang II frontend with tube A arms.
I also have a set of halibrand style wheels for it (I just have to get them back from my son)
I have a bed that needs to be shortened and all the fenders.
I have most everything to finish this truck sio that is why it got moved up on the to do list

I hope to get this truck and the race truck finished befor fall(wish me luck) Ron....

thanks mark! they need to be no bigger than 1 5/8" od x 1" tall with a single mounting stud or bolt. if they were 1/2 to 3/4 tall, that would be even better. but i can trim them down in height if necessary.

What type of material are you looking for Eric? Can it be rubber?

rubber would work, but polyurethane would be better unless it was too hard. um...... no bright colors if possible.
