Ok, more dumb questions...

I have been researching the E-body trunk light. I think I know where it goes and how it works (mercury switch).

My question is did that light have a lens, or was it just a socket screwed inside a square cut hole in the trunk lid?

The hole looks like they cut it with a hand saw and the bracket mount screw holes look kind of random.

Anyone know?

No lens. Just a bare bulb twisted into a socket.

You got to love the seventies...LOL

Just as an interesting side note. I thought I read on this forum that all 1971 'Cuda trunk lids where cut on both sides of the rear corners for the rear spoiler/wing option. Mine is an original trunk lid built in Hamtramck dated 07/09/71. Looks a little different.

The top hole was to possition the bracket in the correct spot. The bracket was held on with one philips head screw.

Mine does not have a mercury switch. Only comes on with the dome light and map light.

Hey, thanks for the picture.

LOL, I am going to just make one. 300 bucks for that? lol I found one for sale on the internet for $300.

I think the price scale for parts is:

Passenger cars
Motorcycles
Airplanes
Government military grade coffee makers
Space shuttle
Black market plutonium
Second wife's divorce settlement
Mopar anything!

That deck lid bottom is strange. I've never seen one with only one opening. I can't imagine what that's about.

I guess I should grab a few spares & list them on Ebay...
