I just took my automatic console out of my challenger and up front where the linage is.... there is a spring that is attached to one bracket but the other end to nothing. I looked in the service manual and they don't show anything. My shifter seems to work perfect.....whats with the spring? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

That spring usually leaves everyone that did'nt take a picture or draw a diagram scratching their head...Here's a pic of how it falls into place....

What keeps the right side of the spring in place? Looking at the picture...the lever is in nuetral. As I shift from 1st to park the spring eventually comes free on the right. Should'nt there be a hole or something to keep the spring from coming free? Thanks---

It's magic! Really, the spring tension keeps the end in the slot.
