Right, if performance wasn’t a motivator then it makes infinitely more sense to leave the 4-speed and 396 in it! It would be worth more money, it would be period correct, significantly cooler, a bigger crowd pleaser and so, so much more fun to drive! Instead what you have is just another Mopar with a humongous hemi that runs disappointing et’s.

Butch Leal was running high 8’s in ’73 with the same set up under ideal conditions, as I’m sure your 8.58 was made under ideal conditions! http://www.butchleal.com/history5.html

While you think it makes more sense to have a four speed and 396 I do not. The hammering of clutch launches is not what I choose to do a 35 year old chassis. The cost of a lenco, clutch and can is near 10K no thanks. A 396 was never ran in this car.

Poor research and incorrect in your comparing mine to Leal. Leal's was a tube frame car several hundred pounds lighter than mine.

In an earlier comparable car things were more like this

1972 UHRA Pro Stock Champion Detroit Michigan 9.29-148.20

Disappointing ??? Not in my world or the many people who I talk to at every track. not happy with my way of doing things?Sorry about that buy one of your own and you can change it all.

You spend 6 figures on a car but feel it’s too much to spend another couple of grand to buy a lenco? You set the chassis up to do huge wheel stands (like in your sig), launch it with a trans-brake but don’t want to have it handle a 4-speed? Interesting logic…

Both your and Leal’s car had to obey the same weight breaks. 7.0 lbs per cube…

Yeah, it is sad how some Mopar people have such low expectations.

Proud to run the BG banner on our car! Every motor Bob has built for us has been right where we have wanted it to be, there's a lot of great engine builders out there but you'll be hard pressed to find one that's as stand up as Bob George.

And some people should READ my signature!
