I have been told that the Hemi blocks that were used in these cars where cast in late 66 because there were no blocks cast in 1967. I have a chance to buy a block in VGC that was cast in 10-10-66 any Ideas on this message that was PM'd to me

Thanks Brian

Late 66 blocks work and if you have late build SS cars some did have early cast 68 blocks in them. Mine is an early car so I have a November 66 block for it.

The funny thing about science is that if you change one miniscule parameter you change the entire outcome to the way you want it.

The only "correct" S/S block will be the one with the S/S cars VIN stamped into it. There was nothing else special about the bare blocks, they were just Street Hemi castings.

...and again,

To even through a wrench in the works many of the cars came with only 10.25 to 1 compression so you have to think that there just standard "Street Hemi" long blocks with a cross ram on them. Those car were just thrown together with what ever was laying around.

But anyway you cut it....they sure are cool!!

I thought I read or heard in the past that the 1968 BO29 and LO23 cars had no vin on the blocks?

I believe many of them did but I'm not sure if they all did.
