I don't usually do this but I feel strongly enough about this that I have to give a call out to Performance Car Graghics!!

http://www.performancecargraphics.com/

I am putting my 1971 'Cuda back together and I have been trying to make it as original as I can on my budget. It has been a long haul and I have a long way to go. I can not afford to buy a lot of things twice. This is a little info that might help someone else from doing what I did.

I have two jack instruction decals. One from Performance Car Graphics and one form someone else. I will not say where I got the bad one because my intent is not name bashing.

I bought the first one based on the online description and bad photos from their online site. I figured that they where all the same. they are not. The bad one was on a glossy plastic decal material with a bad reproduction picture and broken, badly copied lines. If you notice in the two decals top left corner, the part numbers are the same. The one on the left is from Performance Car Graphics for a 1971 Barracuda/Challenger. It is correct for that year. The top left corner block is larger than the top left block in the right decal. The right decal is for a 1970 Barracuda/Challenger. The block was revised in 1971 to be bigger. Performance Car graphics has both, the place I bough the bad one from only sells the 1970 decal.

The one that I got from Performance Car Graphics looks great, on a cardboard/paper that looks exactly original and crisp clear printed pictures. It really needs to be seen in person to really see the difference.

When I got the first one in the mail (the bad one), It was shipped quickly and was undamaged. When I got the one from Performance Car Graphics, it was shipped quickly, it came in a box, it was undamaged (it was in a BOX!!), and it had two full pages on how to install the decal with tips and warnings, and exactly where it goes and how to locate it. Very impressive.

Now here is the thing. THEY BOTH COST ME THE SAME!

Thank you Performance Car Graphics!

This is a closer look at the quality...

This one is very bad. Notice the camera flash from the glossy plastic decal material.

This is the one from Performance Car Graghics.

Super reproduction. It is really very nice.
This one looks exactly original and is endorsed by Mopar as an authentic restoration product.

Even the decal corners are cut correcly!!!

you wouldn`t believe what it`s like trying to reproduce things in australia. we went crazy restoring an australian r/t charger with stripes and decals-i wouldn`t settle for anything but exact and it is not possible with modern digital type technology. firstly the stripe masking kits that you buy here are wrong-everyone of them believes they are taken from nos samples but when you place them against three original paint cars that i have access to you see the differences. we finally got that correct with tracings and lots of wasted masking kits cut by computer controlled systems.
the decals on the rear quarters-

good luck-i have a complete nos set of decals but didn`t want to use them on the restoration because the car wasn`t mine so i tried to get them reproduced accurately-forget it-the computer systems that try change minor things like the corners of each letter to be more neater and not like the originals that were sometimes more rounded off and sometimes sharper depending on the letter-i gave up on those. basically- what could be done in 1971 can`t be done in 2011 in australia. i almost sent my nos set to performance car graphics to see if they could reproduce them.
it makes me wonder what the u.s decals are like compared to nos.
all the best
frank.

Here is an original from a 1970 car if you want to compare them?

See how many differences you can spot just for fun.

Ok, I admit that I am no expert. I am very pleased with the quantity of decal that I got over the first one. I guess I kind of just got a little over excited about it all.

1) Red vs Blue writing on convertable caution ?
2) Upper-left 'photo' has jack hook , original doesn't

Hi Guys,

The two jacking decals pictured in the OP's attached photo actually conveys TWO incorrect samples. Wrong is wrong regardless of the varying degree of inaccuracies. Incorrect aspects that display "clear crisp print" should not be a legitimizing factor for these Errors. There was never a "larger" left box used for the 1971 year decal. The original cut was corner rounded, not angle cut. The angled corner cut started in 1972 for E Body vehicles. The print was a dark blue/black and not a lighter process blue color. The "Caution" print under the upper left box was not RED. The registration for the RED lettering at the bottom is off. Notice where the word CAUTION lines up in reference to sentence #9 that is listed above. One final point, all decals manufactured by ECS Automotive Concepts are licensed by Chrysler. We are also the preferred aftermarket supplier for the Chrysler Corporation. If you go into any MOPAR Dealership and request an aftermarket parts catalog, ECS is the main supplier for their aftermarket decals. Below are some photos that show the exacting detail we offer for a few of our reproduction jacking decals. Thanks!

Tom, ECS does it right! I have personally seen Dave Walden in action making those trunk jacking instructions, it is a lot of work to ensure they are exact. My observation is that everything ECS sells is exact or doesn't get sold. Thanks for sharing those examples, it hopefully helps others know what they could be getting before they send off their hard earned money. I have never understood why so many of your competitors go to the trouble of making a product - and cut a corner and end up doing it wrong (no pun intended.) Dave
