Well, the moon, the stars, and the sun aligned today at the IHRA Div 9 Raiders Division Summit Super Series run off. http://www.ihra.com/SummitSuperSeries/About/This was held at Rockingham Dragway on Friday before the division bracket finals. The SSS track champions from each track in this division ran off in a 4 round race to see who would go to the Summit Super Series World Finals in two weeks at Virginia Motorsports Park. And I was lucky enough to get past all the great racers and win the trip to the SSS World Finals! I really wanted to run Jay Norris from Greer dragway for an all MOPAR final, but although he made it to the semis, it was just not meant to be. Of the 11 no-box cars (footbrake in this division) that showed up, there were 3 Mopars. There was even a car from Aruba that made it over the water to this event! With 6 cars left, I was paired against Rocky Pintavalle from Richmond Dragway in his Duster and we both dialed 5.94 in a heads up match. I took the stripe by 0.002 seconds. The other two footbrake match ups were close at the finish line in that round also, another 0.002 and a 0.0005.... So Summit racing is going to pay me $1000 to tech in at VMP in a couple weeks in the run for $10,000 in cash, a new enclosed trailer, a golf cart, and lots of other stuff. Wish me luck. And did I mention I love my Ron's Flying Toilet injection system? The weather was hot on Thursday and Friday and I came back to the pits at 160F just like I left the finish line. A cold front is coming through tonight, and the high is expected to be about 65 on Sat and Sun for the bracket team finals.

You and Rocky in any race had to be awsome, probly the best two Mopar footbrakers between Md. and Va.! (I will through in Chris Moran and Seth Phillips) Great job Jim, Now take it home!

Yes, lots of great footbrakers around here. Chris and Seth have done great things at some bigger races this year (and I lost to both of them in some rounds this year), and add the non-Mopar guys like Ed Talbert and it takes some luck to get by them kind of racers. I believe all those guys have won more money than me this year. I am just happy to have a little glory and a chance at the SSS title and a few grand here or there...

No just the plaque ! LOL I think the winner of the bracket finals did get an IHRA trophy. They didn't even give me a winner's circle picture, but they did offer to sell me one after they took pictures in the post race ceremony.
The winner's circle pic was lame, the wall at Rockingham doesn't even say Winner's Circle, just some company ad; so I passed on paying for it. I did buy a 16x20 picture of my car leaving the starting line with the IHRA/Summit/Division logos and "2011 Summit Super Series No Box Champ" lettering, Raider's Division logo, plus the date and track at the bottom.
I am not complaining, just the facts. All the glory, but when I get to the World finals the thousand dollar bills could start to flow. - Tech in gets me $1000 - Win 1st round another $1000 ($2000 total) - Win 2nd round another $1000 ($3000 total) - Win 3rd round and that is at least R/U ($7000 + $1000 tech) - Win 4th, that is the finals, $10,000, enclosed trailer, golf cart, etc.
