Has anyone ever disassembled their vent window frames and had them rechromed? The ones on my car are pitted real bad and I would like to send them off and have them done. I have got the glass out of the frame and the only other thing I guess I need to take off are the galvanized pieces that are attached to the potmetal frame itself. These pieces are attached to the frame with pins that have been peened from the factory. I thought I would just grind these down in order to get the frame off and use the remaining ones to attach it back. Has anyone ever did this before and if so how did you attach it back? Also any recommendations on who would do a good job rechroming these pieces or any other potmetal pieces would be appreciated.

If you have a hard top, there is the rubber gizmo at the top of the door window run channel with two screws hidden below.

OK thanks. That has a lot of useful information. Anyone have any recommendations as to where I should send them to have them rechromed. From what research I have done it seems Advanced Plating in TN has got a lot of good reviews but I know they are going to be high. I also need to have the rear taillight bezels and a few other pieces of pot metal done on my 69 Charger RT. I am starting to read conflicting ideas as to whether you should have the original pieces redone or just buy aftermarket pieces. Any ideas/suggestions? Thanks.

The screws are different size.

There was some soft black caulk under the rubber part. The other thread is good and was posted after I started posting mine. I did not need to grind down my posts to remove the pot metal part - the material was soft enough to shave off small pieces around the edges with a sharp tool. As mentioned in the other thread, there's another set of unused posts.
