why dont you just ask Dwayne how much it would pick up? FWIW, i think it would be money well spent

Randy, i'm pretty sue Dwayne is getting 310-315cfm on a std port e-head on his bench. You see how well Doug's flat tappet 451 is working with the stage 2 portwork Ron

Box them up and send them to Dwayne. You will be glad you did. I imagine you might have to send him the intake to if you are going to have him mill the heads.

If it were mine I would send him the intake and heads and let him work it all over.
Getting old just means you were smarter than some and luckier than others.

Dwayne is one of the most respected head Porters and engine builders on thsi site and one of a handful on here that I would never hesitate to recommend. When I recieved my Stage VI Chapman Max Wedge heads and wanted to know the "real skinny" on what I had I knew I could count on Dwayne to give me an Honest an objective technical evaluation, and he did. Generally every 4 cfm of intake you gain throughout your cam/port flow window is worth 1 hp PER cylinder, provided your induction and exhaust system is capable of delivering the proportional increase in Air/fuel demand needed to achieve it. If I recall correctly the PRH Stage 2 on a BB Eddie should deliver at least 30-35 more CFM through the most critical mid-lift flows (where the valve spends 1/2 it's time), so in rough numbers that's about 65-70 more HP potential all else being equal. The effect of a good port job is very similar to the difference in a flat tappet vs a roller of the same relative seat timing and lift...only more so. You are effectively allowing the motor to increase it's VE (torque and as a result HP and upper RPM breathing) but without negatively impacting the lower end of the powerband. It's a win-win and furthermore, Dwayne is one of hte best at tailoring the port work to the specific flow characteristics of the cam and the converter/gearing/vehicle weight of the rest of the combination. bottom line...you can't go wrong with PRH

Thanks,Ron! Did these flow 329cfm AFTER Dwayne worked them? If so,what were they flowing BEFORE? I've talked to Dwayne on a few occasions,in fact I purchased my Comp SQ flat tappet cam from him...on his recommendation!...EXCELLENT choice! I picked up .3-.4 from my previous cam. My Eddy's are box stock, except for Isky 8005A springs, and Comp retainers. How do those Max Wedge port windows affect low-end torque on the street? Thanks! Randy
Randy that was 329 @ .600 when they were done and it was 319 @ .550. I dont know what they did stock but Dwayne could tell you. I believe the EZ's are about 295 to 300 stock on the intakes. My low end still works great but I use the Indy dual plane which I like. My only time at the track when I ran the 11.04 with lean problems it has a 1.57 sixty and the hook was not real good. With the 493 cubes it feels great on low end. And that is also why I went with the Indy dual plane to help keep the low end strong as everyone said I would love that Indy dual plane which I do. Ron

I agree but is Jeff back at work, or is he still having treatment. Mick

Mick..last I heard,Jeff is back at it,but not putting in as many hours as he use to! Chemo and radiation therapy knock your energy level for a loop! Found that out in 2010,when I did chemo, from April to August. I was fortunate though, didn't get real nauseous, lose my hair..or my appetite...but my energy level was terrible! I know for a fact,Jeff's treatments were a lot more intense than mine! I just hope he makes a FULL RECOVERY! Jeff's a GREAT guy! Work..no matter who's it is,has to be secondary to his health!

Remi..are the deals from Indy directly? I've heard of WAY TOO MANY horror stories dealing with them! I believe Dwayne's a distributor for them, though. I'll see what he says!....Chad,I'm sure opening up the ports will take some velocity away..i.e TORQUE! But..maybe the milling will help to offset some of the torque loss. I'll have to discuss this with Dwayne,as well! All I know is if getting the heads ported, and raising the compression to what HE thinks will handle pump premium...results in CONSISTENT 10.9-11.0's....I'll be VERY HAPPY!
Hey I didn't say it wouldn't be a trade off that wouldn't be worth it. The gains up top will more than make up for the small torque loss at the bottom. And depending on the converter it may not be noticed at all.
Do the stage 2 porting and I promise you will notice a huge power gain. Once that not just the timeslip will notice but the seat of your pants is gonna feel a HUGE gain too.

Hmmmm. Cylinder pressure is higher than I would have thought for a 10:1 CR and a cam that large. Do you know your deck height, valve notch volume, gassket thickness and head volume? Is it a zero deck 6-pack piston...I don't remember. We're doing good. I'll be back up in Mich. pulling the dock next weekend. Seems like I just put it in.

Russ..my deck heights avg. 10.715"..gasket thickness compressed is .039..the pistons are Diamond flat tops, and the chamber volume is 84cc. Have an idea on the MAX comp. ratio?
Randy the cam has a BIG play with what the real(dynamic) compression is... when the intake closes
