Any reason to choose a Moroso vs. Canton oil accumulator? IIRC, Canton was the original and Moroso basically "borrowed" their design and marketed the same basic product. True?

Also, when one of these things is advertised as being 2 qt, 3 qt, etc., are they really adding 2 qt or 3 qt of oil to your oil system capacity? Or is some amount of that advertised volume going to be used for the air (chamber) that pressurizes the accumulator? If so, how much less of actual oil volume increase can be expected? Thanks!

I know one former modified production racer that used the original Moroso 3 quart accumaletors(SP?) in his SB Chevy, one of those guys that would drain one quart of oil out for the final race, replace the rod bearings after that race racer Rick Hauser actually He said that the accumalator was worth a little bit, he didn;t say exactly how much, of ET compared to not using it, he would not add any oil to the sump when using it I had one that I never used I sold it to a local racer that was having pressure loss problems and that cured it mostly, he needs a better oil pan, 572 CI all out bracket motor that makes 800 + HP at 7300 RPM I am going to buy a another three quart unit and use it as advertised to add three quarts to the system to my next all out high HP race motorMy current 1970/71 six quart street hemi pan is marginal in the 1/4 mie tracks, if I let it get a little bit low (3/4 of a quart or more)the oil pressure will drop when I let off on the other end

Mr.Cab Racing and winning with Mopars since 1964. (Old F--t, Huh)

My plan at this point is to go w/ a 2-qt "can", unless I find there's more room than I think and can fit a 3-qt version.

I'm also expecting to use a sandwich adapter that goes between the filter and the block, along w/ a standard manual shut-off valve.

Per my original questions, any reason to choose Canton vs. Moroso?

I have been using the Moroso unit for years with no issues at all. I prefer the electric solenoid myself. You can usually pick them up on the net used for a good deal. They sell new o ring seals for them, use the savings to upgrade to the electric solenoid.
