451 509 mopar cam, hd stamped rockers, lifters from two different sources do to rust on Mopar lifters....13 Mopar lifters...3 sealed power.

Engine has bout 3 hours on it and the pass side rear has a honest to goodness loose rocker sound but you pull the cover and theres no lash and the lifters are all pumped up and hard.Springs look ok.Havnt removed the rocker rail yet am kinda stumped.A friend says i might have got a anti pump up lifter in the mix but really see what that would do??Or he thinks the valve seat might not be right i just dont know.

Whay ya think?????Thanks

ome performance cams do have some lifter noise due to the style of the ramps. Did you check installed height of the valve springs (valve spring noise)? Did you check to make sure that the valve spring retainer isn't hitting on the guide/seal? With the valve cover off start the engine and with a hammer handle put pressure on the push rod end of the rocker. If you have a bad lifter it will quiet down.
Could also be exhaust noise

Thanks for the help.I need to make a valve cover with a hole in it so i can run it.I have header wrap ...like i said there is no spongy lifter or valve spring issues i see.I isolated this with a stethascope(sp?)to cylinder 6..sound is rocker slop for sure....the other problem (or is it?) this is the cylinder that wiped the cam lobe i though the lifter was smooth in the bore but wonder if its hanging up? I wouldnt think with 300 lbs springs. Its half engine speed and very noticable over 2000 rpm.

Looking for more replies

I should re-title it "Sounds like excesive lash"
