Car hooked and went on the wheelie bars and a joint broke and sent the car up and onto the guard rail.

Was it a heim joint, a u-joint or a joint for one of the wheelie bars?

Jake, Glad to hear that you walked away and hope the doctors visit gets good results. If I remember right, when Gary Murphy and his black Challenger did a wheelstand at Bowling Green and a rear wheel came off, Charlie made a rule that all hemi cars needed 5/8's studs and wheelie bars. I hope for the racers sake, that Charlie doesn't create a new rule about no wheelstands.

Ironically enough, after my second time run on Saturday the ticket booth guy told me that the starter phoned up and said that I might have lost a lug nut off the starting line. After a quick check I realized it wasn’t I so I thought it might have been something else. So I went down to the starter and asked what he picked up. Apparently it was a sheared off ½” stud with the nut still attached! They should have made that info public to let whomever it was know!!!!

What looks like what happened is the bracket on the rear end folded over and side loaded the heim and broke it in two. Whats amazing is all the sheetmetal is repairable none needs replacing. Only body parts needed is front bumper and lt headlight ring,lt drip molding, and the chrome molding at edge of quarter panel. I havent gotten it up in air yet to see what damage underneith other than some steering stuff oil pan and trans pan and header collector and new tires and rims.Jake

First off good thing you are ok and hope the bruises are not too bad and there is nothing broken or sprained. Really feel bad about the car but as we all know those things can be fixed and you being ok through something like that is the only real important thing. Hope to see you and the car back out next year in the lane next to me!!!

First I want thank all the well wishers and e mails and phone calls that i got. It realy made me feel much better. Also it was great that my son was able to come to the track and help load things up and drive us home cause i could not drive. We put the car on the houst yesturday and things are beat up a liitle put repairable. So the engine and trans is out already and the car is going to my friends frame shop to make sure everything is straight. After that it will go to my house and we will start on the body work. We will take our time on it so we are not pushing to get it done for next season but we will see. When i went to hospital they found a potential problem with my heart so i go to another doctor on thursday. So we will see what that is about. Agian thankyou everyone. Jake

If they find and fix a problem you didn't know about with your heart, this accident could be the best thing that ever happened to you. Good luck!

I had a friend that had a wreck in his T-bucket street rod. Broke some ribs etc. They noticed 'something' with one of his kidneys during x-rays. Turned out to be cancer in his kidney. They removed the kidney and he is fine now. Probably saved his life..some things DO happen for a 'reason'..possibly God at work here too.
