Why would you want to? The reason that I ask is a powerglide is cheaper & lighter the turbo 400 is stronger the c-6 is better than a 727. under what app. do you mean.racing or street driving.makes a difference.
Maybe he wants the fastest auto trans available for N/A....
The 904 style Proflite.
You know.....like all the fast Fords and GM cars have.
There was a factory GM motor that had a Chrysler auto trans bolted to it from the factory - 80's era mail carrier Jeeps had Pontiac iron duke 4 cylinder motors with 904 transmissions. That fact let GM cars run 904's in the Stocker classes...

It is far from just a bolt-on. But like it was already said thats the ticket for a low drag comp trans, they use an adapter on a AMC 727 or 904. The adapter is also rated as the flywheel sheild. Nice stuff/big money.

Advance Adaptor GM to AMC torqueflite: http://www.advanceadapters.com/products/pn-716131-a/Check with Wilcap, as they might make an adapter that would work. Perhaps JW has an UltraBell bellhousing adaptor for the 727. Or, ... just use a GM trans and save the hassle.

My guess is that if he was looking at using a ProFlite he wouldn't have asked this question.

That's a rather unique opinion.
I guess you never had a 727 blow up on you yet...

Hard to tell what I want to do... Lets say you have one hell of an engine with a GM BB bolt pattern on the block and you have one hell of an 727. You either have to throw one out or mate the two!!! I want to mate the two
I am not big on hell. I avoid it where possible.
Life would probably be less hellish if you used a basic (or perhaps even "one hell off a...") stout TH400 or powerglide on that "GM BB Bolt pattern block." Saves you the hell of adaptors and the inevitable fitment issues.
No need for ask for more hell in ones life.

No big differences between a C6 and a 727. Both used the Simpson planetary design as did the GM Turbo Hydramatics. It was common in the 70's for Ford racers to put a 727 gearset in their C6 case. NHRA put a stop to this by checking for park in the transmissions because the parking lever wouldn't work in a C6 with the 727 gears.
I've seen Fords and GM scatter transmissions like a 727 in the past.

I've built 904/998/999's, 727's, C6's FMX's, C4's, TH 400's, TH 350's, PG's, 700R4, 4L60E's, 42RH's, 44/46/47RH's and 42/46/47/48RE's. As well as countless front wheel drive transaxles. They all go bad. The TorqueFlites don't have any more inherent problems than any other transmission. C6's are a poor copy of a 727 as is the C4 a poor copy of the 904. They put the servos in the side of the case so when they are applied they tend to spread the case.
But back to the OP, just put a GM trans behind your GM engine, BB and SB are the same pattern, sell your 727 and turn in your man card.
