I have taken this dash apart many times. I recently installed a new clock cable and now I can't get the knob to screw on (the cable is too deep behind the fascia). I don't have my original cable anymore - but it seems like this cable is too short on the front side. I got the cable from Dashworx but I figure its the same as the one from Year One....?

Are there different length cables between E bodys? What am I missing?

BTW the threads on the cable aren't stripped because I can screw it on when the fascia isn't in the way.

I am frustrated as hell... It'll almost screw on, but its just about 1/8" too deep.

My response to a frustrating situation in a hot/humid environment:

A couple of beers and an angle grinder. I fixed you, you piece of #U%k*ng $#!+ !!!!!

Here is your solution.
Take the brass threaded end and screw it by turning it into the plastic tube more.
This will reveal more of the threaded shaft and you will now be able to
put the knob on.It simply was not adjusted properly when made.
Very simple fix.

Thanks. Wish I'd have known that... its all installed now. The knob still doesn't stick out enough.... we'll see if I feel like taking it all apart tomorrow...
