what/where is the neutral safety switch wiring harness attached along its trip from the firewall to the trans? assume it clips/clamps at least at one point along its way.

Car in question is 69 B-body big block 727

Kevin..good question! I need the same info! I'm not sure YET,where it plugs into the block on the firewall. Could someone post a pic of their car, with location noted?....and where it gets attached to anything along the way? Thanks!

There is a rubber coated clamp under one of the trans to block bolts, looking at the engine from the rear I think it's the top right side bolt (maybe top left one though)

there should also be another clip on the tail shaft ext to trans case bolt.

I can snap a picture later today of where it connects on the firewall - I have a 69 Charger in the shop

On my 71 e body it is the lower left connector on my fuse block looking at it from the engine compartment. It also has the windshield wiper motor wires in it also. 4 wire plug.

Hello Gary,
Could you post a pic of the harness running along the firewall to the fuse block? Also, could you post a pic showing where the harness from the dash reverse light routes under the dash and where it connects to? TIA

Ray

I have this detail on file and thought it would help.

After the harness comes off the trans, it goes through one black plastic circular shaped wire strap on the firewall.(this is on a 73...I think earlier years used a either a black or white "D" shaped strap) From there it runs accross the firewall and connects to the lower lefthand corner of the bulkhead connector. It only goes through the one strap on the firewall...the one below the voltage regulator. If you want me to take a pic let me know.

Hey Darren,
Thanks for posting! I have that part covered. Just need to know where the harness runs along the firewall to the fuse block, and as the harness leaves the dash reverse light, where does it route under the dash and plugs into where?

Darren,
Thanks for that info. I believe my 70 cuda should be the same. A pic would be helpful. I need the routing from the dash light under the dash to where it connects to...

Mines an automatic so I don't have a reverse light. On mine, only three of the four connector slotts are used. The lower left slot is empty. There is a brown wire with a yellow tracer that comes out of the plug...up and around the brake booster and over to the relay.

It goes to the wiring bulkhead , should be pretty easy to figure out where it goes , the wire is only so long , taped in a few spots to hold it to the harness . The harness from the trans when it gets to the firewall is held by the same clips that hold the engine harness .

Yup easy to figure how it routes, it can only go one way.

Gents,
Thanks for the previous posts. The harness from the reverse light switch appears to be short as it will mount on the drivers side top bellhousing bolt, not the passenger side top bellhousing bolt, and directly runs to the fuse box via metal tabs on the fiewall. It will not reach the engine compartment harness plastic loops. The harness on the reverse light is just hanging there, and I'm not sure where it connects to. Does it go to the fuse block in the interior side, or does it connect to the main dash harness, or go through the firewall to connect to the engine harness? Any help is appreciated. The reverse lights don't work, so I'm trying to fix them. TIA

Since your car is a 73 I can't say what was done then , I can only comment on 1969-70 A/B body which went to the bulkhead directly and the reverse light harness was held to the firewall by the rubber tipped metal clips welded to the firewall not the plastic loop clips on the inner fender panels.

Do you have the service manual for your car ? there is a wealth of information in it , like wiring diagrams ...
