I dragged a 79 Roadrunner home today. It had been sitting in a backyard since 1993 under a tarp. Black, T-Top 318 auto car. It was a one owner car, the guy went down to the dealer and ordered it the way he wanted it. He pasted away a few years ago, his widow said he wanted to be buried in it. She was selling the house and didn't know what to do with the car. She had a tough time seeing it go.
Unfortunately, it isn't in the best of shape. I did throw a battery in it and spray some carb cleaner down the carb and it fired instantly. Here's a few pictures. I haven't cleaned it up other than pressure washing the engine compartment. From looking up production figures they only made around 1100 units with 487 having the T-Top package. Dave

If you weren't so far away, I'd take it off your hands. Could be a sharp car. Wonder if the seller has pictures of it new.

Nice score...And the T tops make it all the more collectable...They sold a bunch of the aspen/volares back in the day and the road runner was at the top of the pile IMO....Way back when I drove a 78 around until I got tired of it {over 200 thousand on the clock} and the next owner had it a few years after that !!! Good Luck !!

very nice, even has cruise!
check the three 2"x3" rubber cowl drain flaps in the firewall for debris/blockage, major rust location when they dont flow freely.
Prob. an 8-1/4 with a decent gear, maybe a suregrip.
I have a few structural pieces around for those... if your in need

If you decide to part it out, the grille, if nice, should put some money back into your wallet.

What condition are the T-bar roof seals in? IIRC they are impossible to find.

That driver's side rocker looks pretty rusty.

The rockers are rusty, there's some dings and small dents. I've got the 4th wheel in the trunk. I may stop by the widows place again to see if she has the center caps for the wheels. I believe its got the HD suspension package also. I think the T-Top seals are alright, I haven't really had much time to look it over real well. It's harvest time around here plus I've got my 528 Hemi on the dyno in the garage. There just are not enough hours in the day for everything I have to do. Dave
