well,
I got my wipers assembled and ready to roll.

Issues are- the motor does not want to pull the wipers down past the bottom trim to park. It trys, but can't.

-if these are hideaway wipers, they do not fit between the back of the hood and the cowl, the space is too tight.

i thought I had adusted to where park put them just above the trim, but nope.

these look to be the right wiper arms in the manual, so problems could be:
aftermarket windshield is shaped a little off
poor trim fit makes it a touch too tall
replacement wiper blades are too tall

any hints appreciated.

Need more info. What make, model, year?

A pic or two would help us help you, too.

Getting that stainless trim to fit close to the the windshield right is a PITA. That's what my wipers hung up on on my '72. Don't know how to adjust the "fit" without dorking up the bottom window trim.

Also, if the wiper refill is least bit weak/worn out/soft, it will fold over some and the refill clips will hang on the edge of the trim.

If they don't fit under the hood, my guess would be warped hood rather than misfitting glass.

thanks, 1974 Roadrunner

looks like the correct wiper blades

I have the correct wiper motor arm for a two speed

passenger side linkage nut was not on tight enough, and it came off as the motor tried to pull it down past the bottom trim

you can see how the wiper arm, let alone with blade, will not fit between trim and hood

driver's side is the same

Aside from the fit,
I am having trouble getting the passenger linkage arm nut popped on tight enough. I remvoved the drivers side to do that one, but when I hit the release lever on the passenger the lever came off and arm stuck on pivot.

I am having trouble getting the linkage arm to motor attachement. The shape of the opening is supposed to fit square with the nut/post but not able to get it.

Some of the issues you see are the linaage arm popped off the passenger wiper, and the wiper linkage slipping on the motor stud.

But, big problem for me is no matter how I put on the wiper arm when it is in park, the travel wants to come below the bottom trim, but it catches there.

First off...Those aftermarket wiper assemblies definitely sit higher than the factory pieces... How does the wiper motor work in general ??? Sluggish ??? Battery fully charged ???

I believe the arms are the same for both 2 and 3 speed wipers. It appears the height on the aftermarket blades is causing the issue. Here are oem blades and they are much shorter allowing the blade to clear the hood.

Agreed, ditch those aftermarket blades, just too thick and bulky causing clearance issues, not to mention twice the weight causing the motor to strain. Doesn't look like the trim is flush with the windsheild either.

yep, I cannot get the trim to flush with the glass.
This was aftermarket glass.

I have one of the trico blades, let me see how that compares...

As mentioned, the pivot point on the newer blade holders you have installed are too high. I suggest you find some original blade holders and install the original style blades available from NAPA.

ok, a trico "tru fit / exact fit" blade holder bought me 1/8 to 1/4 lower height.

Between the trim being so high off the glass,
and also noted my hood alligns about 1/8 inch too far to the rear, but no room up front to adjust. (that's what you get buyin a stalled project before it gets scrapped)

Thanks for all the tips, I am close

ok, I pulled everything.

I assembled my linkage outside of the cowl.

It is just like in the picture.

http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,23779.0.html

I reinstalled wihtout putting the wiper arms back on.

Something seemed to be catching, and some smoke started coming from the motor or resistor.

Running just the driver's side blade the other day without being hooked up to the passenger pivot arm did not do that.
I -thought- the pivot arms could only fit on one way.

Is there some hint to their alignment?

Thanks for any more info.

I was all happy everything was hooked up and was ready to put the arms on.

Obviously kind of bummed when that happend.

I have pulled the linkage again.
