What is the normal axle tube thickness on the housing?

I am cutting and narrowing a 64 dodge truck housing and the tubes are at least 1/4" if not 5/16" wall...

I was very surprised to see it this thick. Is this normal for all 8 3/4?

probably. a bare housing has enough heft to it, and there's no giant heavy cast center piece, it's all stamped metal and axle tubes. but i've never cut one apart ot see how thick the tubes are.
