Went over and talked to him for awhile. Last year the car went 1.7 under at Indy for the #3 spot. This year he said they may not even go because they've been hit so many times they can only run .7 or so under now, and that won't cut it at the Big Go. 5.7 in the car, they started out in F/SA and are now in A/SA. AHFS does work whether the Internet cowboys think so or not.

On another note, our own MoparPitBull and CRT were doing some damage. Jerry was in the finals of the 10.0 class when I left, and John was deep into the bracket class.

Finally, I got 3 passes in, all 13.9 or 13.8, motor only, all at 99 MPH. Car went back on the trailer under it's own power too. Not bad for a 3200# Slant 6 car.

Funny how the 5.7 is now rated at 401 hp and the 6.1 is 404 hp. Both are now natural AA/S.

Jerry Williams.

Yeah, the 6.1 is kind of a dead player now. I believe if either it or the 5.7 get any more HP they become SS only unless the NHRA gives the DP and CJ's their own classes, which I don't think will happen.

I was talking to Carey last night. Very nice guy and very willing to talk about the Drag Pak.

So many were claiming the DP and CJ would be the death of Stock. I think they have renewed interest in the class for sure.

When the new cars quailify it knocks out the slowest cars ina 64 field rhose which never even come close to a mwin
As an old class racer looking at the stock super stock eliminator classes and rules it is a joke.
Today it's a bracket race requiring qualifying period.
In the 60's and 70's you only got to run for the eliminator if you won your class. The handicap was done using the national record and the breakout was .10. Running fior a class win to get there kept the records fairly honest. The cars had to run on or near thge record to be competitive. When I saw all the weight juggling it made me laugh. not just right
