Eastwood sells a Radiator paint. The sheen is gloss black, however regular 'ol rattle can black is not the best choice as is can hold heat. The eastwood stuff is a thinner, lighter gloss black that still allows heat transfer.

That eastwood stuff is good. Probably the very best product of theirs overall.

i've got a 68 radiator unrestored and it looks just about flat black, maybe it started out low or semi gloss??? i don't think they were gloss black.

the heat in the engine compartment area definetly knocks the gloss out of the finish. Im not sure about the original finish on the radiators but it dosent take long to make semi gloss turn into flat black under the hood.

I wouldnt use gloss as its just too shiney for my taste but I would use the semi gloss and be prepared to repaint in a few years.

Huh? Gloss holds up just fine under heat. I paint radiators semi gloss though, and they are still semi gloss years later.

You can paint them semi gloss but the were gloss from the factory. Cheap gloss that was not near as good of paint as today's formulas.
Eastwoods is the best choice out there.

I used to paint mine semi gloss but all the hi end cars are done in gloss so I switched years back to gloss and am very happy with the outcome. Oh and Eastwood as stated is the way to go. Ron

if the radiators should be gloss from the factory, I would think Glen-Ray would be supplying his units in gloss. AFAIK he is "the" radiator man.

Compared to vintage magazine roadtest pictures, I would say lots of restored cars do not have enough gloss on the radiators

I'll put my money on the OE gold cars and survivors over whatever "the" radiator man is doing.

Gloss. Flat black rads are one of the first things I notice under the hood (oh and those replacement rad caps and flexible rad hoses), Ugh.

Hood? what is this "hood" thing you speak of?

Not to hijack,but.... what about an A/C condenser? Was/should the same paint be used for it?

Just went out and looked at the 5000 mile survivor, untouched A12 bee. Gloss, no ifs, ands, or buts, about it.
