Thanks, Mike! I've promised myself that these are the first AND LAST set of custom headers I'll ever build! Tedious work, to say the least!
The plan is to get them ceramic coated, probably in a semi-gloss or satin black finish.

I was waiting for someone to say something about it!

Before I began building the other 3 primary pipes, I mounted an oil filter in that spot, to mimic the heater blower motor, which sticks out from that hole in the firewall. Mounting the filter there was a visual reminder to keep the pipes clear of it.

Shifter came in yesterday. It's made by Winters, they call it their Rock Crawler model. I got the flush mount model, so I could mount it straight into a custom center console.

Headers are all welded up, and I just dropped them off at Pro Coat this morning, to get them ceramic coated in a color called Gray Ice. The collectors didn't come with flanges, so I had to buy some flanges and weld them on. Thinking ahead, I also welded on some O2 sensor bungs, because down the road, I'd like to replace the carb with a self-learning EFI setup.

Assuming your header place is the same as mine in their formula, this is what Gray Ice looks like when new. Over time they become a satin finish as advertised.

First of all.....DAMN, we broke 35,000 views!

I've made some progress on my rear bumper with a swing-out tire carrier. This is about as far as I can go at the moment, until I get the spindle and the rest of the other parts. I also need to buy some steel, so I can cap the ends of the bumper.

I built a 3D model of what its going to look like when its done.

Made some progress on the rear bumper.

She's a real swinger.

My next acquisition is going to be this front bumper. It's a newly designed unit that just hit the market.

This morning, I decided to reconfigure the mounting of the latch to a 45º angle.

I also welded in a raised area, to help support the far end of the tire carrier.

Dave I have had two friends who have broken those trailer spindles as tire swing outs, so keep an eye on them. I think they determined that it was due to the weld being to close to the bearing surface and messing with the hardness?

Not trying to scare you just making you aware of a possibility. Both we were well supported when closed also.

I like the latch at a 45, that should hold it nicely. The bumper on my cherokee has the same style latch but its on top of the swingout and hooks on the forward side of the stop/locator. It works well but I think the 45 degree idea would hold it even more stable.

I appreciate your concern and the advice, but this shaft is beefier than the average trailer spindle. In addition, it is not welded on, just a couple of tack welds at the base is all it needs, so the hardness of the shaft isn't affected. The shaft slides into that machined sleeve, and its the sleeve that is welded to the bumper. Once fully welded in, the sleeve shrinks a tiny bit, and locks the shaft in place, hence only a couple tacks added to the base of the shaft just make sure it never moves.
