I won a brandnew wieand tunnelram off ebay for a 440.well i was putting the two halves togeather today and noticed that the ports are off some. Was wondering if you would run it like it is or would it be worth the time to port match the two halves? let me be up front and say i rallly suck at porting heads/intakes. i dont have a steady enough hand for it.well the intake base ports are smaller than the top half.I took a sharpy and colored the part of the port that is miss matched. here is a pic of the intake.they are not off super bad but to me enough that i am unsure if it will hurt performance or if it would be worth it to port it? thanks Mopar65

It may not hurt much BUT I port all of my intakes
to get the best I can... that shouldnt take you long
at all to do that... once you get near with a burr then
use tootsie rolls... they dont jump around like a burr...
how is the intake to head match up

As easy as this intake is to take on and off, I would run it as is and get a baseline. Then I would clean up the ports and run it again to see what the damage was.

When someone on the Moparts board asks the same question you could have an expert opinion on the subject.
You might even be able to get lucky and get in a heated debate about it.

there are probably gains to be made porting the whole intake

I am curious about this as well. I have the same intake and the top and bottom are off a bit as well, but not quite as much as in your picture. I was planning on port matching them but I really wonder if it matters much.

That being said, I will definitely check the intake to head port and sweat over that

Porting and port matching are 2 different things. I would definitely port match it. No $, minimul time, and gotta be better, even if you can't / don't measure it.

Hi yes i have the mopar m1 one. allways wanted to try a weiand tunnelram.I did not even think i was going to win this one off ebay.but wouldnt you know it i did.lol but to answer MRP question no i have not had a chance to put the new one on my engine to see how the ports line up.like i said my porting skills really suck.lol so i might just put the intake on the way it is and try it and when i get the money i will send it off and have some body that is good at it port it for me.thanks Mopar65

is that what your car runs with the M1 ram in your sig? i would love to hear the results for a BATTLE OF THE RAMS

some say the Offy ram is even better than the weiand.(where is TJ Marcus)

I have always heard the Weiand was tops
Looking froward to the manifold shoot out Bobby

Try flipping the top end to end and see if you get better runner alignment, I did

Gonna have a little shoot out myself someday
Ported Weiand X-Cellerator vs Ebrock Victor vs Weiand TR

I didn’t go to the track but I can tell you this, I had taken my tunnel ram off and went back to my single four barrel. Well that lasted a couple of weeks and now the tunnel ram is back on and it not coming off again. The difference in torque is amazing. I think you are going to like the T/R a lot.
Good luck with you test and keep us posted on your findings.

yes the m1 is what i have on my car now.the time i ran in my sig was on a nice late november day. i think it was in the low 50 that day.also that is the day my 8-3/4 went boom on my 5 pass and it felt like it was going to be a great run.I have to 650 dp i am going to put on the weiand when i get the money saved up. all i need is the linkage and a four port fuel pressure reg.but for now i am going to run my carter 750 carbs on the new intake.I dont know how the weather will be. but i am going to try and make a race on the 9th of september and i will let everone know how the new intake does.thanks Mopar65

i have turned the top around and to me the way the tow tops go to geather in my frist pic was the way they fit the best. look forward to your test. wish we had some nice cool weather on a test and tune day. i would love to do a intake shoot out on my car.also are you makeing new gaskets for the wieand intake like you are for the m1? my intake is brand new and came with new gaskets, but they look kind of cheep to me and i really liked the ones you made for the m1.thanks Mopar65
