Just curious about you all who drive your cars on the street if you get the same feeling I do sometimes. I mean from driving my car alot I get used to the power and sometimes times when driving it I catch myself saying............man is it still as fast as it was ?? Like my old eng ran mid 11's and now and then I would just have a day when you say.........does it feel like it still runs mid 11's ?? So I would have to wait until I went to the track to verify. Course it always is running just as good but I wonder how many others get that once they get used to the power ? And of course now I plan to race my new combo in the next few weeks and I have never had it to the track. But I still catch myself saying............does it feel a second faster then the old combo ??? Guess I am going a little crazy. Or maybe its just that we want our cars to run as good as we hope. Oh well I still cant wait to get to the track with the new combo. Its funny as I really dont get into the car much on the street and dont want to street race at all as I am afraid I would get caught and have my car towed to an impound lot and that would freak me out !! But thats why we have race tracks. Ron

Ron, I know exactly what you are saying.
My old combo ran in the 12.40s before it sat for an extended amount of time, 15 years or so. Got the next motor in the car and it didnt feel all that impressive. I really didnt know if it was all that much quicker or not. That motor ran 11.30s. Now I have a very mild combo in the car. After long discussions and logic it should be back in the 12.40-.50 range, but the butt dyno says it feels quicker. So that has me worried. LOL.

Its not that my car is not fast enough as I am pleased but its just that after you get used to it sometimes you start to think it has slowed down. Just seems weird as usually you go back to the track and its just as fast. Ron

,there are days when I switch from my dualie,to the CTS-V Caddy then to Duster Dave's car. All have obnoxious power but I get the exact same feeling as you do.

I get that feeling especially driving the largecar(semi tractor trailer). Rolling down the interstate thinking that its a little down on power. Then I roll around another semi going up a hill, when I was pacing him on the flat. Yup, it still runs ok.

I used to think my Duster was pathetically slow.
I would then get in the old Ford grain truck during harvest season. After driving it all week that Duster felt like a rocketship!

When I was younger I used to drink a little and I remember back in the 70's when I had a few beers in me that my 340 Dart seemed to feel a little faster as I drank a few more beers ! But that was wrong to even think of drinking and driving but I did it a few times when I had drank a few beers. Luckily I dont drink at all any more as once I started taking my pain meds 10 years ago I stopped drinking at all even though I did not drink much. But I remember how much faster the car felt with the help of a few beers. Ron

I just go out and jump on my moped, take it for a spin around the block, then everything seems fast again. Instant un-told h orsepower once again.

I'm always thinking that way too Ron. Not the beer part, your original post I would like to know exactly why my car slowed down by .12 from last year though. Could have been the weather so I'm not too worried, but still. My first 1/4 mile pass this year felt like a 12.50 run but it was 11.89. I kept pushing the gas pedal harder thinking I was doing something wrong Don.
